*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

What's the craic then? Are there problems with the first batch?

I would be getting an 8GB one, should I wait before I order?

Its like any big launch, 100s of thousands are sold day one then 50-100 people who have a problem charge to the internet and completely out-voice the rest who are happy as they have no need to discuss their device on the net.

Ok thanks, just let me know, I definitely want it if your friend doesn't but not at a silly inflated price, but we can discuss that if you do decide to sell.

Sure thing, I'm not fussed about profit etc, if someone will be able to utilise it more than I will then that's fair.

Does anyone have a known to be good Flash/iPlayer APK I could side load? I've found some on various websites but I'm weary of downloading from an unknown source.

Go to the XDA nexus 7 forums and get the flash apk from the flash thread.

Very pleased with the N7. I own an iPad 2 and can see myself using it far less going forward. Probably just for AirPlay.

The GPS and Navigation app really has impressed me a lot. It seems to cache a lot of map data for offline use and, along with the GPS, means it can be used outside with ease.

Anyone tried Compass Mode in Street View within the Maps app yet? Now that is truly a "wow" factor. Just try it... so smooth.

I own an iPhone 4 and this is my first proper look at Android. My only initial issue was the quality of the audio I was getting via my usual headphones. Just didn't seem as good to me as the iPad or iPhone. But then I discovered and installed the Equalizer android app... problem solved! I'm pretty much an Android convert at this stage too.

Obvious thread troll is trolling

I don't see it, sorry, I'm not trolling, I think TD just doesn't wana buy something that's not up to spec and widespread reports indicate a lot of problems.

Let's take the 500,000 figure at face value, 5000 is 1% so if this is indeed a poor first run and a super high 10% have faults that's 50,000 web active, techy, fussy, early adopters shouting out their pain, if a more reasonable 4% have issues that's still a very vocal 20,000 unhappy consumrs shouting out.

I'm also sure a certain amount of TD's posts are in self deprecating humour, based loosely on fact.

Well just cancelled my order with Google & ordered the N7 16GB from my place of work for £179, which I'll pick up tomorrow night while i'm there.

And as we know Google are pretty **** at cancelling orders, decided to clear out the money from my account which is just a basic one that i do all my internet ordering from, and put it into my current account so they can't touch it, because it's now not there for them to get to. :P

Because their system has screwed up somewhat, the money that was originally on hold for the N7 went back into my account yesterday, so now they have no choice but to cancel.

Knew one day having 2 bank accounts would come in handy for something :).

Edit

The reason i cancelled is because a pal of mine has been on the phone to them, after waiting nearly an hour only to be told that his N7 16GB will now only ship in the first week of August, as they currently run out of stock due to extremely large demand, even i can't wait that long :/

The poor driver told my uncle that he had loads of them to deliver and wondered what the hell they were.

Hopefully its fault free.
