Reported: 10 Killed in US Batman Premiere

I imagine this was a complete nobhead who watched the dark night 1000 times and imagined becoming the next 'baddie' in the movie in his sick mind...

Because there's normally a discussion in these sorts of threads with people talking as if they're gun/combat experts, calling on their Call of Duty experience. :p

Well have you ever shot anybody? I doubt more than 0.0001% of the british Population have ever even fired a real firearm so that makes us all pretty much not experts on the matter*

*Apart from me, I shot a Glock 9 last week on holiday in Thailand

Just been updated on BBC and they now say 12, not 14 as I saw earlier.

At least 12 people have been killed and 50 injured in a shooting at a cinema near the US city of Denver, police say.

A man wearing a gas mask opened fire after tossing a tear gas canister at a midnight showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, in Aurora.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in a car park nearby in possession of a rifle, handgun and knife. One other gun was recovered from the theatre.

Terrible news, RIP. :(

Have you ever considered it might be some people's way of dealing with grief. I watched this programme once about the guys who have to go along and clean up the mess from people who throw themselves in front of trains and they only way they could cope with it was to joke about it.

Grief?
Because you have personally been effected by all this?

A person who cleans people up from under trains is doing a job that is quite soul destroying and they need to find ways to dehumanise the situation. In the same way that I saw a Nurse on Channel 4's '24 Hours in A&E' this week who said when doing heart massages, she looks away from the patient and tries to pretend she is doing something else.

What you are doing isn't grief or trying to cope with it, its just making a cheap joke in the event of a tragedy and now trying to defend your childish behaviour.

To those all for banning guns, after literally 2 mins of googling I find reports that 'small arms' cause 500k deaths per year, 200k being civiliation deaths. Alcohol causes 2.5 million deaths a year. This is globally in both cases. Shall we ban alcohol too? Outlaw guns and only the outlaws have guns, and the government. There is nothing to say these nutters wouldn't have access to guns anyway. I would like to see more information released about the offenders back ground to be honest.

Imagine all the people wishing that baby would shut up.... then...

Maybe that's what prompted him to start shooting?

Otherwise he would have just sat there quietly in his seat the rest of the night in his kevlar body armour and a shotgun across his lap...

Here... we... go... How many times have we seen those exact three sentences before!

ps: We have fairly strict gun laws in the UK, thankfully!
