Long Awaited Build

Ffs....

I got it to install but now the HDD cannot be used for the W8 install because it has a MBR partition table however windows can only be installed on GPT disks.

Ok I've got it down to it installs but when it gets to the install updates the install screen shuts down and it goes Error Bad Pool Header. Anyone?

LOL at this thread :D (sorry OP). I've built quite a few PCs now and I know all too well how frustrating it can be when you can't get them working.

I'm pretty sure you can install Windows 7 and use it for 30 days before you have to put a key in? (someone correct if wrong). If that's the case then you could do that so then at least you would know whether the current problem is due to windows 8, or if it is indeed a hardware issue

Googling the error and it looks like a Windows 8 problem. Why are you not using Windows 7 out of interest?

All his issues (the BSOD and bad pool header) are actually pointing to a faulty HDD. I've already told him a bootdisk to download, burn and use to test the HDDs health.

I'm done here to be honest. I keep giving advice which is either questioned or just ignored. I can't help those who don't help themselves :(

EDIT:

My apologies I just read one of your older posts which I glanced over before. Again my apologies I did not mean to ignore you.

To be fair hono he is new to PC building. He's done alright considering that.

However your sig is awesome.

The problems are spread over a number of threads bud, I've been holding his hand through this for quite sometime. I know he is young and new to building but he has been planning this for months. How ill prepared he is and the mistakes he has made could have easily been avoided.

What burning software would people reccomend using? I tried Free Easy Burner but apparently the disks I was using werent writeable despite I know they are, so what software (free) would people reccomend for burning?

Pretty sure windows 7 comes with in built burning capability. I don't often use DVDs these days but i've used it once or twice.

Great so now the software suggested to find out whats wrong with the system is a massive **** up!

error: unknown filesystem.
grub rescue>

I ******* hate this ****** PC

Thats the third time I have burned it to a disc

Ok rant over lol, needed to release 5 days of solid stress :D
Its the error while checking my PC, I'm not sure what causes it though.
I do have Ubuntu installed on the HDD (it doesnt work of course) but would there be any software clashes?

Why on earth do you have Ubuntu on there? :O

Did you actually format the drive when you got it?

Edit: I'm pretty sure that Grub error is linux... Format the disk and try a fresh install. If you get no joy you can trust me and I'll sort something for you to try.
