Why is it always players playing in the EPL that have these long drawn out transfer saga's?

Fabregas, Rooney, RVP, Modric, Adebayor, Tevez, Berba and didn't Ronaldo say he wanted to join RM then play a full season with UTD before leaving?

Its pathetic.

who is under contract and being paid by spurs.

***. Its unprofessional and might even put off RM. Lets face it, RM can go for any player they want. Modric probably isn't their only "playmaker" target.

He should just let his agent and spurs deal with the transfer.

Its like if we phoned into work and said we weren't coming in because you are waiting on a phone call from another job.

Another reason why fooballers are so detached from reality.

.

Not really just an example of player power.

Modric is probably (without counting) 1 of 2 or 3 players in that position that RM are after that are available and of quality they need to slot right in to the team

No discredit to you, but multiplying that amount by 100 for your job (certainly mine) would be nearer the mark

You cant ignore the power that gives the individual - without even considering what Levy may have promised in private last season to keep LM away fom Chelsea's mits

Liverpool consider offering Adam to Fulham in bid to speed up Dempsey capture

This is a deal I would like to happen. Adams stuck out like a sore thumb last night in our friendly against Toronto. Didn't have the control, pace or technical ability that most of or youth team players displayed and considering Rodgers is looking to bring in Allen and already has Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson to choose from I don't even think Adams has a hope in hell of playing much football for us this season

Which wouldn't be a bad thing. One decent season in a relegated team and Blackpool did a stunning bit of business. He's consistently inconsistent and I doubt he'd slot into any other team. If they get Dempsey and now that Lucas is back he wouldn't get a game anyway.

I can't say he'd be missed. He was bought to improve the range of our passing and give us the edge with deliveries on our set pieces. He choked at both of these. His corners and free kicks absolutely horrific at times and his passing was short, restricted and never seemed to go forward.

He's young and still holds value which is an upside, I suppose. £2-4 million + Adam would be a good deal for everyone involved.

We wouldn't accept less than £5m+Adam for Dempsey, if Adam is worth £5m'ish. Be a decent enough deal for both parties really, Murphy-like replacement and some money to put towards a bigger contract for Dembele. Already had replacements for Dempsey on left wing, but will possibly still go after Sinclair. Fulham value Dempsey at around £10-12m considering his contract. Dembele won't be let go for less than £15m i'm assuming.

Rumours we're signing Lukaku on loan and if Adam joins in the Dempsey deal, Fulham probably just need another right back and possibly a winger if to cover ourselves. We were 8/11 favourites for Jordan Rhodes, can't see us signing Lukaku AND Rhodes though with already having Rodallega/Petric.

Do you really think Real aren't aware of this and aren't actively encouraging him to do everything to force Spurs' hand?
If you think you're going to get Dempsey for less than £9m, then you're sadly misguided.

29 years old and only 1 year left on his contract. £9m would be expensive.

edit: On the Adam-Dempsey swap. For all the **** Adam gets, he's no where near as bad as some make out and at least worth the £7m we paid for him.

If, as some reports have suggested, Dempsey has made it clear to Fulham that he wants to join us then we're in position to dictate terms. For the reasons above, even a straight swap wouldn't be a great deal for us.

Another reason Adam would be good for Fulham is he ended up with 11 assists even in a **** season for Liverpool.

£9m for a player who scored 23 goals (17 in league) while mostly on the wing? He's probably worth £5-7m because of the contract situation, and £3-4m extra because of his importance and our reluctance to sell.

Wow, I agree with you, the hate he got from your lot last season was insane. If he'd cost 20mil and done literally nothing, they'd have a point, but he cost almost 1/3 of what Downing cost and did a hell of a lot more.

Thing is with a proper manager its likely almost all of the players you bought last season would do better this season. When ONE player goes to a club and does badly, you can often point the finger at the player, when they all do badly and most of not all of them have proven then can be MUCH much better and half the players already at the club do badly as well, its unlikely to be the players.

Liverpool should hold on to everyone, Carroll included, because firstly fan expectation has dropped dramatically, Liverpool fans more than probably any other club put a pressure on players that makes them do poorly. Fans put so much pressure on your big money buys they've all pretty much flopped and their values have gone down massively.

One year where the fans don't expect much and with a manager that is simply better and has them playing better football they'll likely all improve significantly, to the point you want them to stay, maybe not, to the point that selling them brings in appropriate values, probably.

There's no two ways about it, Downing/Carroll/Adam ARE better players than you saw last season, Henderson I was never sure about before he moved, always seemed like a headless chicken to me and still seems that way, overhyped young English player, still there is little value in selling him this summer.

yeh. let's not forget they're footballers, not doctors.

ridiculous the power they have. spoilt brat.

Im of the opinion that this kind of attitude would change if you were not allowed to change who you worked for because your current employer says you cant go.

Every football contract should have a minimum fee release clause as standard and then this kind of thing wouldnt happen.
The player wants the big money contract, he then has to accept that his release clause is 40 million quid when he signs it.

All you would do is set it to decrease in value as the contract goes on, or keep negotiating every year.

Like this stupid situation with RVP, at his age, with his length of contract left his release fee would be say 10 million quid.

Tranfer done, its over Arsenal have 10 million quid and should have renegotiated his contract sooner.

Modric was an idiot for signing a longer term deal if he had plans to leave so its his own fault he is stuck at Spurs.

I dont see how anyone can think Carroll is any good, Downing is a poor player, but better than 0 goals and 0 assists a season I'll grant you.
