Finally got my last badge and it got upgrade to King of the Fort :D

I'm still thinking about getting some games, but not sure.

Skyrim, FO3 GOTY (Even though I've got it on PS3) and S.P.A.Z.

Just been looking at Arkham City and Skyrim but cant decide which to go for. I really like the look of Skyrim but what is the main idea of the Skyrim game? I know people rave about it but i have never actually played it so was just curious to know how the game works?

Get quests,
Explore and go "aaaaah" at the pretty scenery,
Kill stuff,
Wonder where the time went and panic because you have to go to work in 3 hours time.

I'd take Skyrim over Batman tbh, much more satisfying.

Skyrim is a large open world RPG, but isn't as good as it is hyped up to be. There is a main storyline and lots of extra quests like the guild quests.

There is a good 100 hours of gaming in Skyrim before it gets dull and you run out of stuff to do. Saying that, I still sometimes fire it up to go exploring. There's so much of the map I still haven't seen!

Bought Bastion for £2.86 only thing i've bought atm :D

Anything else i'm missing out on? ive never played saints row :o

New vegas

Weapons have strength and skill requirements - Who cares? Strength requirements for heavy weapons I'm sure were added in a mod on FO3 but skill requirements are meaningless. You can use a gun regardless of how good you are with it, just not very well.
Vats is more reasonably powered - Not really sure what that means, but again, FWE and probably other mods altered it.
There are more perks that are actually good. - Debatable, but mods added more perks and altered existing ones.
Weapon mods - One of the most popular mods available for FO3. Means NV doesn't get brownie points for also including it.
Different Ammo types - Not sure if that was a mod in NV but a good addition either way.
A large number of weapons - Not necessarily better. Mods did include several more weapons for FO3 too.

Also New Vegas had very good writing and was much more of an RPG. The game is consistent with the already established lore and the other already established Fallout games. It also has many endings.

Fallout 3 on the other hand is more of an FPS. It has bad writing and very few quests. Pretty much just one ending, and even though it is hundred of years since the place was devastated no on seems to have made any progress. There was also significantly less voice actors in 3 than New Vegas.

Most of the additions in NV over FO3 came from mods. As for storylines, maybe, but I never heard much to say it was truly epic rather than just 'better' and its pretty subjective either way. Quests, most of NVs quests are just questlines for various factions. It is something FO3 lacked but you'd still struggle to do them all and when it comes down to it, exploration was the name of the game too. How big was the area and how many places could you go?

Fallout games were never about exploration, it was only because Bethesda wanted an Oblivion with guns. It was an awful game. Awful combat, one of the worst stories I have ever seen, so many plot holes and things that do not make any sense at all because of Bethesda's laziness and an awful moral system. How can you ignore all of that and just claim it was good because of exploration? The whole landscape was just dull and brown.

Also if you need to mod a game just to make it good, it probably isn't a good game in the first place.

Dude!

The premium lager in my local is £3.80 and £4.10 a pint and that's not a city or fancy wine bar either.

eeeeeek! £2 for a pint of 8% cider down my roads local lol or £1.60 for a fosters £2.00 for Stella.

It's actually cheaper for me to get a pint of cider in the pub of quality than it is to buy a bottled quality cider in the shop.

Never played a Fallout game but lol @ that last quote. Half-Life, Morrowind.... there's literally 100s of already good games made even better with mods.

The exploration isn't about looking at pretty scenery. It's about the chance encounters, finding new places, exploring something unknown in a new area. That's what makes it such a great game to play. Perhaps you ought to focus on that when you play, rather than how pretty it looks.

It didn't need modding to make it good. Sure some things didn't work that well (VATS for one with its limited range and rapid accuracy drop-off) but aside from the occasional instability there was nothing wrong with the game. Modding expanded on it and New Vegas took a lot of those mods and put them into the core game. Its called progress. Sure it gives the devs points for knowing when they're onto a good thing but you can't then argue that 'it needs modding to make it good'.
