*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Think I will finally be able to order one this weekend. Just been informed at work I'm getting a lovely little bonus, so I will look at ordering the 16GB version.

I can see people are having issues already. I guess in some ways that's to be expected with a new product as we all know from previous tech launches and such.

I am sure issues will get sorted very soon. So if I run into anything I know where to come for help and advice :)

i dont see a problem, if anyone is unlucky enough to get a faulty one... don't go and post pics on xda... take it back and get another one..

Well I need to make a decision, order one from Tesco online today and hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow. If their is any problems I can just take it back for a straight refund/replacement.

I just don't want to get stuck in the loop of having replacement after replacement.

If you take it back to the store, then all they can do atm is refund you, if you ring up Tesco's they send a replacement and pick the faulty one up.

Do you know if they have to take a hold on your bank account.

EDIT: Just spoke to a Tesco CS rep. He said they don't do a door exchange, they have to be sent back to Samsung. THEY AREN'T EVEN MADE BY SAMSUNG!

Spoke to 2 CS Reps now and they both said they don't do a door exchange service. :S

I'm sure I read some people saying that Tesco did. Weird.

Oh well, another reason not to order. :)

I'm pretty sure I read in this thread that someone had had it done as well.

Removed that little bit of foam on mine, now the tiny bit of screen lift I have has totally gone. Result and took about a minute to get the back off and do it. :)

Definitely going to hold off buying a replacement until this is sorted then.

Shame, I enjoyed my first tablet experience, on the whole.

Sigh. Guess I'll have to take another look at the Nexus 7 a few months down the line. Chances are they won't even take notice anyway so it'll probably stick around for a long time.

They certainly do. If you order from Tesco Direct online at least. They took mine away today and gave me a new one on the spot. You spoke to an uninformed member of staff.

So it is likely that most units will be affected over time (at a complete guess).

Unfortunately comments like this will be taken as verbatim (and already seem to have been) despite you admitting it's a complete guess. I see no reason why it will separate over time if you remove the bit of sponge, there is no outward pressure on it then. I've had mine apart so I'm not completely guessing I'm basing it on experience of what I have seen. :)

I think the main thing is catching it in time, if you already have too much lift then it may be that there isn't enough adhesion anyway.

You are right. I have edited my post.

For my own part, my unit is in a folio case where the edge and bezel is not viewable and since receipt the "raise" has not grown.

It doesn't seem to have any other defects and "out of sight, out of mind" applies in relation to the uneven screen fit. So much so I don't think I will remove the foam which is probably causing the problem.

It really is a very nice device, especially at its pricepoint.

Tom, your post has really annoyed me.

Not because of your alleged hardware OCD problem, but because you've received one, found a fault, got a refund and potentially getting another one before mine has even arrived.

Google, can you hear me ? Where's my ****ing tablet!!

A post over on xda seems to have nailed down the cause for the screen lift. Looks like it is an inherent design problem.

Time will tell I guess, if more units will be affected which are currently level.

Edited - to remove sensationalism ;)

If that is confirmed to be the case then I suspect a controlled recall or advisory will be issued.

In the meantime the tablet will be fine, it looks to be merely a decorative issue of the outer lens/digitiser (Not the screen as some say.) and wait for a response from Google/Asus.

No point flip flopping in and out of stores returning working units or struggling with RMA's until this issue is resolved by the manufacturer, that is unless you have nowt better to do.
