*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

So, what's been going on with this thing? Can't be bothered to sift through page after page again, impressed myself that I've held out nearly a whole month from getting one in the end!

Ok, now it is coming a few questions

Good media player for mkv files?
Anyone using smb_browser on JB yet, or another way to access windows shares?
Im going to root it, but is there anything to do for google now (someone mentioned somewhere about changing something to US english?)
Any other tips to start with?

ES File broswer for smb shares?

Hmm...the buyer of e has just sent me an email regarding my RMA:

"To return your product to us we require a fault log number from Asus.

To obtain this please follow these steps.

1. Call Asus on 0870 1208340 with your date of purchase and the serial number of the product.

2. Explain the problem and tell them you need a fault log number for ******.com, they will ask you to do a few tests depending on the product. In most cases Asus will solve the problem directly with you and/or send out any replacement parts that are needed.

3. If Asus are unable to do this for you they will then provide you with a fault log number."

WTH? Why should I have to ring Asus, surely the retailer should be sorting this?

Well despite 4 phonecalls and 3 emails requesting a cancellation, it shipped yesterday. Another phonecall to Google and allt hey could suggest was that I refuse delivery.

Cue this morning, Mrs was out when they tried to deliver - result? Oh no, any other time it would be taken back to depot, but they leave it with a neighbour :S

So now the decision, go on hold for 60mins to Google and ask what I should do about returning for a refund, or try and sell it on? Any suggestions? Really don't want to take a loss because of Google's idocy!!

Has it been longer than 15 days since you purchased?

That's really shoddy to be honest and I heard Asus aren't much better for RMA!

Not longer than 28 days, which is what counts, ordered on the 12/7 received the next day. I don't particularity want to ring a 10p per minute number at Asus when the retailer should be handling it.

RMA update, told buyer of ecstasy my contract was with them and not Asus and had no interest in ringing a premium rate number to try and sort it.

The guy half-heartedly wanted me to do it as they wouldn't be having stock until 10/8 and when I informed him I didn't want a replacement but a refund, said no problem and arranged a courier pick up and refund.

He reckons they've sold their initial batch of 1000, and almost sold their second allocation of another 1000 units. Said they've only had 5% returns so far.

Ordered from Tesco with collect at store for tomorrow. £189 with £10 off voucher code. :)

I thought why not risk it, if it's faulty, I get a refund or a replacement. No loss. :)

Not that it matters but I would be curious to how much stock Tesco were allocated this time around. I imagine these things have been selling fast and I haven't seen Tesco online go out of stock once.

EDIT - Also how do Tesco inform you when your Nexus 7 is ready to collect?

Cheers
