hey guys,

ive decided im going to sell my current card and invest in a couple of 7970's and three 27" monitors for eyefinity

which 7970's shall i get and why?

also which 27" monitors and why? (want very thin bezels)

cheers

or 6970 crossfire to save abit of money?

maybe twin frzor ii 6970's? or spend the extra £200 for another 10fps?

I'd grab a couple of these - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-097-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938

UK RMA, and quite.

For the screens, if you want thin - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-165-SA&groupid=17&catid=1120&subcat=

Shame about no DVI, but such is life. (Vega done some pretty impressive modding to these screens, made the bezels super thin)

I've got the 23" version of that screen, really is pretty.

EDIT: I know it's not the best comparison, but it should give you a rough idea between CF6970 & CF7970 - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/515?vs=588

700 for two gpus is to much 650 max, i still have to get 3 monitors yet, but max get both gpus and run 1 monitor in till funds become avalible again, btw my mobo has 2 pci-e slots but will run both cards at x8 not x16, is this a problem?

Yep, got a tax rebate :D not sure about the 200+ for another 10fps tho :/ dose the 7970 have any advantages over the 6970 for eyefinity?

7970's can be had here for £300 on special, they can be up to 40% faster than a 6970 so 2 of them would be 80% faster. The 3gb of VRAM is a big help aswell.

Yeah the vram will, especially with 3 27" monitors, whats the heat and noise like on the refrence 7970's? Will my mobo bottleneck the 7970's and i have a 750w psu, will i need to upfrade that aswell?

If it's a good 750w you should be fine

My vote for monitors goes to Samsung S27A750D's, expensive but worth EVERY penny IMO.

Also, please do take into consideration, are 27" screens really the right size for you? They can be quite painful for gaming if you like to sit close to your monitors, whiplash and all that :p

Im using a 23" currently and sit close to it and wish for abit more, im also planning on buildingy own largecorner desk so all three monitors will fit together nice, whats the most common size for eyefinity?

If a 7970 was 40% faster than a 6970 then two 7970s would still only be 40% faster than two 6970s assuming the CrossFire scaling was the same.

23/24"

3x 27" is great, just make sure you have the space

Yeah ill deffo have the room, will my mobo bottleneck the cards at x8 bandwidth? Using a single card it runs at x16 just halfs it
