A lot of talk on forums and twitter that were going to sign Scott Sinclair. A good player and I think would fit in well.

Would be the end of Johnson as well. Assuming Johnson will be part of a deal for Agger.

Sao Paulo have confirmed that Paris Saint Germain have made contact over in-demand forward Lucas Moura.

Manchester United have already bid for the teenager this summer, whilst Inter Milan have also spoken to the 19-year-old.

However, neither United nor Inter have been able to meet Sao Paulo's demands - which are reportedly around £45million (£35.7million).

Inter chief Massimo Moratti said on Tuesday that PSG had indeed made a bid which matched Sao Paulo's valuation.

Now speaking to France-based newspaper Le 10 Sport, Sao Paulo vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes has confirmed PSG have made contact.

"We have been probed by PSG about Lucas," he admitted.

The Brazilian club's official also confirmed that former Sao Paulo star and current PSG sporting director Leonardo was in regular contact.

"Leonardo has a very good relationship with Sao Paulo. But for now nothing is definite," he added.

It is believed that PSG's offer would see Moura remain in Brazil until January, but Lopes says the player will make the final decision on his future.

"The possibility exists but it is down to the player's interests. The policy of Sao Paulo is to follow the desires of the player. If the player wishes to leave, Sao Paulo will not create any obstacle. But we must receive a proposal that is appropriate," he said.

"It's a financial issue. Paris Saint-Germain is a big club in European football and if the player's interests and also the club's are met, I do not see why it would not happen."

That's most likely the end of that then.

We didn't pay £20m to buy Agger, did we. There's no guarantee that anybody we buy (if indeed we sell Agger) will replace him but there are players out there that can replace him and for a lot less than what we'll get for him. The catch is that they're not quite the finished article, unproven in the league etc. City can afford to pay a big premium to get the finished article, that's proven at the highest level. We can't.

No we paid 6 million for him 6 and half years ago when he was 20/21 so I'm not sure what relevance your 20mil comment is? Unless your advocating buying a cheapish defender and waiting 6 years till they come good and flog them on again?

If the press are to be believed it's Rodgers himself that's prepared to listen to offers at the right price for Agger. Generally CB's aren't that expensive and I'm sure Rodgers fancies himself to use that £20m+ and end up with a stronger side.

The very best CB's go for a premium, £20m+ actually, there are the odd few that fly under the radar and go cheaper. However given all that we have been linked to under BR we will most likely go to Swansea and buy one of theirs as a replacement if he goes. Hardly scouring Europe for up and coming talent is it.

I'm fairly cynical when it comes to transfers - I very much doubt clubs will waste their time bidding for a player before having a quiet word with that player/his agent to see if he fancies the move. Could you blame Agger if he was happy to join City? He's going to walk into a side that's favourites for the league, will have a decent shot at the CL, treble his wage and he won't even need to move house either.

The Agger story originated in the Mirror, by Darren Lewis, where was he when the story broke? With Man City on their tour...make of that what you will.

Man Utd may as well just give up on signing anyone else this summer .

We just keep targetting odd choices. I don't know why United have not made RvP and Sahin their top targets. Sahin would be allowed to leave on a permanent basis for the right offer which wouldn't be much more than ~£20m and the same could probably be said for RvP. Moura is very expensive and plays in a position we already have ample cover for.

I wouldn't say no to him but its getting a little silly and very overpriced.

I think we will be fine this year with our current squad but if we want to challenge for the CL, we need a couple more world class players unless a few of our youngsters have amazing campaigns.

Indeed. There are plenty of top players out there and before the transfer window opened, I would never have imagined us going for Lucas, or similar.

If he, with agent fees, is going to cost the best part of £35-40m, then I'd rather we just got Sahin and RVP who would both be significantly more useful at the moment for example.

However, I often feel as if it's a case of, we either get Lucas, or nobody. So I'd really rather we got him if that was the case. :o

lol a week ago no one had even mentioned Sahin being a target and now we all know he's available people are saying he should have been our top target all along :/

Have United even been linked to him? I see that the Mail/Marca are linking LFC with a loan move for him today. No idea if its a case of 2+2=5 after BR's recent comments about looking at one or 2 loan deals coming in.

Well we should have been looking at all top midfielders! They way Madrid bring in multiple players every year they are never going to be able to keep everyone happy and tend to ship out very good players every so often.

Regarding the Lucas situation, I'm a bit sceptical (as usual :p) -

"We have been probed by PSG about Lucas," he admitted.

The Brazilian club's official also confirmed that former Sao Paulo star and current PSG sporting director Leonardo was in regular contact.

"Leonardo has a very good relationship with Sao Paulo. But for now nothing is definite," he added.

Nothing he's said implies there's an offer, just that they would happily sell him to PSG if they got a good enough one.

I think there's a fair chance that PSG have agreed to keep quiet (due to Leonardo being who he is) so Sao Paulo can try and screw us when we're at the final stage of negotiations; as we are believed to be.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

Why would we have? He is a RM player who up until a few weeks ago was not on the market. The only reason he has been mentioned was with relation to the Modric deal I thought. He was a potential makeweight in the form of a loan, then Arsenal were in for a loan and then United were sniffing about with a view to buy.

If any top player suddenly seems available, there will be rumours. If they suddenly decided that Ozil was surplus to requirements would you be shocked we were interested in him after not mentioning it all window?

So why don't City buy this mythical solid replacement for half the money instead of injury prone Daniel Agger?? I'll tell you why, there isn't one.

Bad move on behalf of the club if they even consider any offers, regardless of price, why give BR any more headaches? He has enough on his plate sorting the other areas of the team let alone the only decent part that needs sod all tinkering. It's not just about getting a replacement in, it's the building of a partnership that will take time.

I still have my doubts that he would move anyway, he strikes me a guy that is true to his word.

Because this mythical and solid replacement isn't as good as Agger. If City get Agger they get one of the best available, when fit, which is what they want and what they can afford. However, if we could sell Agger for £22m and get in someone of the standard of say, Coloccini, for half of that, that's £11m we can spend on a winger, which we desperately need.

Chelsea got Marko Marin for less than £11m. Would you rather have someone of the quality of Marin and a defender such as Coloccini, or Daniel Agger?

My 'problem' wasn't with the club suddenly shifting their attention to someone else but more the fans/you claiming player x (in this case Sahin) should have been a target all along

Well I thought we should have gone after him before he moved to Madrid, but then who knows if we did or not. Maybe he just chose Madrid.

I'm pretty sure there are more good midfielders out there than those City/Madrid/PSG have/want.

I don't think I have claimed that have I? I just said that once we found out that Sahin would be allowed to leave RM, we should be making him a priority over someone like Moura.

There are loads of quality CM that we could have gone for that are available from "smalled" clubs but RM players tend to be off the menu unless they are trying to get rid.

There is no point targeting a player who isn't for sale.

So why sell Agger then?

I'd keep Agger all day every day. There are far too many variables to consider if he is sold. End of the day BR has to fine tune the attacking side why give him more headaches and have to get a defence all on the same mentality when its already sorted?

Because we'll make a profit allowing us to bring in other players.

There are variables to consider if he's kept - what if he spends next year on the physio's table? Even last season, which was his best at Liverpool, he missed 11 league matches. Ultimately, this is a side being rebuilt now. We're not going to win stuff next year, no matter who we sell and who we buy. We may as well sell players like Agger, get some money in, get new players in, and rebuild from there. Yes, our defence will be worse next season. Yes, the side will take time to gel. But we'll also end up with a better team as a whole, and a deeper squad, over the long term if we free up funds now.
