Gameplay is pretty fun but it was so obviously designed to work around the auction house which saps any enjoyment towards the end. Once you hit inferno you basically have to farm gold (it's dressed up as getting gear but the drop rates for useful gear are so pathetic you're forced to just sell the naff stuff to the vendor then auction the rest) to buy stuff from the AH or part with some real cash. I don't know how much the average person would net in gold within an hour but it's probably around a couple quid which makes the real-money auction house attractive. See my gripe?
It used to be about making brilliant games and consequently making lots of money from sales but now it's just these thinly veiled schemes to extract as much money as possible from the customer. It makes for really shallow games.
