Nothing wrong with spending more money if you want the features/design on offer. It's a whole different thing spending the money on something that WILL break and have no back-up from the company however.
why look for anything other than the mx 518 20 quid for nigh on gaming mouse perfection
or maybe the logitech g700?

Can't change the weight of it but still a good mouse, can use wired or wireless.
Wish i hadn't of gotten rid of mine...
I have G700, it's a great mouse and the extra buttons are great, I tried a RAT 9 but it was incredibly uncomfortable for me and does not have many buttons.
I couldn't go back to wired so the g700 gets my vote. Regards wireless, unless I have an inordinate amount of skill to offset the crippling the lag, there is none. I'm very sensitive to mouse smoothing and the general floaty mouse feel you get from it, I get none of that. If anything the g700 feels more responsive when wireless than wired as I pick up on the little drag you get from the cable.
People actually pay upwards of £50 for a mouse!? They must be good!!
Placebo effect most of the time. I know people will disagree with this comment but as long as the mouse ain't a **** cheap one from ASDA I can't notice the difference. As I said I've used loads of different gaming mice and my R.A.T 3 feels pretty much the same as them all, only thing that varies is sensitivity and that can be changed at the click of a button.
Just get a mouse bungee or DIY your own.
Wired mouse do not need to have cable drag at all.

It's only placebo if you don't care. I personally notice positive acceleration quite easily. I would never buy a Sensei because of this, even though it's an expensive "high end" mouse. I'm not too bothered about mouse prediction so I'd happily use a Logitech MX518. Some people don't like prediction so they avoid mice with it. If you don't know or care about mouse acceleration, prediction, perfect control speed, etc then sure it's placebo. Some people actually notice these things though.
..or eliminate the wire.
Thats what I have, it was a £10 keyboard/mouse combo from ASDA I think, I can't actually see what could be changed to boost it to £50+ it seems perfect. Letters have eroded abit from my keyboard, though.
Can't remember the last time I didn't come top 3 online, so I really don't think a gaming mouse gives any advantage in that department, unless they are extremely rare or most people using them suck and just got one in the hopes it'd suddenly make them good. No idea though as I've never used a posh mouse.
It seems extremely placebo for a £45 difference from a cheap mouse, remember the placebo effect can be bloody strong in people, if you sold somebody a scooby doo sticker for a billion quid and told them a potato would run Skyrim on ultra if they stuck it on one, they'd most likely buy it (sad thing is, that isn't even that much of an overexaggeration)
Tbh though, I wouldn't mind seeing what all the fuss is about though if anyone knows of a cheap 'gaming' mouse for under £20?
