Ah, no more Olympics. We can go back to crappy daytime television about shoes, interior decorating and house hunting for lazy students, benefit scroungers and bitter housewives. Two weeks of greatness and national euphoria feels like a dream.

But when I think about the medals we won and the feats accomplished, the magnificent structures built and especially the opening ceremony I start to feel a bit better. In spite of the cynicism felt in London prior to the event we all loved in when it happened and no-one I know had a negative word to say on it.

A great time overall and one of the most positive for this country I can remember.

No. I never really cared for it, only watched what I was forced to (By the girlfriend and her parents).

Especially after that Jessie J Queen cover yesterday.

Many people did enjoy it though, it's just not my cup of tea. :p

I just hope we see an increased number of people participating in Olympic sports after this.

Our 10 mile time trial last Wednesday had a full 60 riders for the first time all year. :)

Get a job, maybe? :p

What are us students to do? 16 week holidays.... (I've had an internship for 6 :p)

Sport.

This is a geek forum in case you hadn't noticed.

Not generally known for their sports fans...

I didn't realise the two were exclusive.. There is a highly popular sports forum; however, compared to the general populous, I'll admit that a lower percentage will be interested here (most likely)....

But to the OP, a bit yeah, was good fun!

Aha, Tv won't be used now until the next series of The Killing or Borgen :(.

BBC one's coverage was awful though. Unfortunately i was one of the minority who didn't have freeview or a net connection (just moved house and the Tv died so had to use the old one).

It consisted of 35% GB, 20% video montages and 45% of the time the camera was pointed at the presenters talking complete and utter crap. So I missed most of the actual sport. Except horses, seen a lot of horses......yee, thanks for that....

From what I've heard it was miles better than NBC's coverage mind xD

I'm gonna miss it too, I don't watch TV but the coverage has been fantastic, watching random sports all night was a great experience that I probably won't do again. I'm glad we had it in the UK and I'm glad it all went so well.

I really enjoyed watching it, there were some truly great moments and some proper shouting at the television bits (GO MO, ****ING GO, YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!). All in all, I'm sad to see it go, but it needs to, makes it much more of an event.

I'll definitely be more into the commonwealth games etc now.

+1

p.s. to the OP you now have the paralympics which you should definitely watch

So glad its ended, the only thing i watch live on my tv is news, with the very rare horizon or other docu thrown in.

the last 2 weeks, despite people being slaughtered in syria and whatever else is going on in the world, all i have seen from the bbc is olympics olympics olympics olympics.

sky news was almost as bad too..why do the bbc have to go so over the top on these things ??

i wish we had a decent dedicated news channel in the Uk where everything does not have to be 3 soundbites long and then repeats after 30 mins

So don't watch daytime TV? I feel for you if your job requires you to because just like a car wreck you can't help but watch if it's on in the room.
