If I was going to get a RS i would get a newer st instead.
If I actually had that money I would most likely spend it on something else entirely.

I would much rather supercharge the gti6 and keep the change ;)

You can get a r26r 2007 model for a grand less... and it's better car.

Agreed but I'm just trying to point out incase he isn't aware that
A focus st is similar in many respects.
Newer. Faster.cheaper. and lower running costs.

I'm also pointing out that there is a rival car available that is again newer. But also undeniably better. And more raw. I'd also argue it feels more special...

Thirdly I'm pointing out (which is relevant) that the parts for these are hideously expensive.
Might as well just deal with m3 running costs given that the body panels (if you can get them) are upwards of 1k for a wing.

This is just making sure the op is aware that these aren't like running your usual hatch back. In the same way we would all do if they cane in asking about m3s, we would say "well the vanos is the main thing"

Having said that the drivetrain in this car if very strong. The Lsd particularly.

As said above by janesy, you buy this car because you love them really.
But you have to be aware of what your getting into that's all.
Again make sure you test drive a few as there's some slow ones out there

That shape of Focus has just turned 14, it's an old design so of course it looks odd compared to modern cars. I get on with the dash fine and when actually in the drivers seat it's not as offensive as people make out.
 
I really can't get on with a few thing with them. The centre exhaust. The fact handling isn't as good. The rear lights the fact it has 5 doors. But mainly the awful steering wheel. Eurgh.
 
I vaguely remember the bodyshop cursing these when I worked for ford sure it was something about the front wings being bonded on rather than bolted but its been a while since I left Ford
 
My god, that interior is truly gopping! Awful shaped plasticky dash, nasty colour scheme and truly appalling steering wheel! What were ford thinking of??

that's if they are still available, although afaik there was a company took over the spares contract a few years ago. and theres all manner of GRP and fibreglass copies for sale these days.

still think the Fiesta RS that was in development the same time as this would have been a much better car :(
