Figures floating around is £5m'ish + Adam. Taking Adam at a value of £5-6m.

I'd be stunned if that's the case. Dempsey's 29 and has just a year left on his contract - he's not worth anything like that.

Our owners are very big on not signing players over a certain age (one of them mentions the age issue in an interview in tomorrows Mirror as it happens) so I can't see them sanctioning any sizable transfer fee for Dempsey.

arsenal fans right now , but I do kinda feel sorry for arsenal the only other team in epl I respect since they are one of the few teams that don't buy their way to success

Actually the first emotion that hit when I heard the news was one of relief.
Relief that the saga is over, that we haven't had a repeat of the Fabregas/Nasri fiasco last summer.
Relief that we've actually got a decent fee for him and not massively undersold like several players who've left in the past.

What makes it worse is that Wenger has told French TV tonight that he will not be replacing RVP as we have already signed Podolski and Giroud :( Just hoping he uses the money to strengthen elsewhere if he isn't going to strengthen the attack anymore.

Arsenal definitely don't need another forward. They have Podolski, Giroud, Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho, Bendtner, Park and that isn't even mentioning the ones out on loan. A defensive midfielder should be far higher on the list of priorties.

Summer 2011 Nasri to City
Summer 2012 RVP to Utd
Summer 2013 Who gets Wilshire......

Dr. Steadman? :)

Overall I think this is probably a good deal for all concerned:
-RvP gets his move to a more competitive club, at this stage of his career he needs to be getting some medals
-Arsenal get a good fee for a 29 year old injury-prone player with only 1 year left and has stated he won't sign a new deal. Additionally getting it settled before the start of the season removes an unnecessary distraction like we had last season
-Man Utd get the player of the year and top scorer for under £25m, they wouldn't be able to get much better in that price bracket

And in more important pre season talk, what has happened to Cheets

Racially abused someone and got a permaban :p

Never thought I would say this but I'll miss Cheets, he could be a pain but it's nice having minority fans around, especially those who wind up the top club fans so masterfully :D:D:D

And he always denied getting banned from BB.com for being racist as well.

Can't get much bitter than Arsenal fans. Only have to see every player that leaves.

Yeah of course thats true... I mean Kolo Toure gets booed all the time when he plays, Robert Pires get a standing ovation when he played against us, heck I remember a certain striker called Eduardo getting his name chanted.... Players that get angry shown at them are the ones who leave under bad terms, ala Cole, Nasri, Adebayor.

Personally I dont think RVP has done a lot wrong, he hasn't forced a move this summer has he? All he's done is refused to sign a new contract, the fact that his current contract runs out in 12 months time is Arsenal's fault. No club should ever allow it's best players to get within 24 months of their contract running out without having an extension in place, it's the exact reason why I'm concerned about our own situation with Nani.

Has RVP left on bad terms though? He didn't want to play for Arsenal any more and that's that. I'm sure he had his reasons. If he just wanted the cash he would have gone to city (although I assume he'll be on a decent wage at united). Throughout the whole saga though he's kept his mouth shut and let the two clubs get on with it. It'll be a shame to see him booed by Arsenal fans, especially after what he has given the club.

I imagine it irks Arsenal fan because he has been so vocal about his love of Arsenal. Now he is putting himself before the club all his prior comments seem disingenuous. If he was quieter he may not have roused such ire.

Yep, putting yourself in that position, especially with things like I'd never join another club in England is it any wonder you end up hated.

Van Persie always had a bit of a nasty gob****e streak in him anyways, just one more reason to dislike him now

EDIT: Fret not arsenal fans

Beaten ^^
