Valparaiso for BF3 would indeed be awesome :p
Even heavy metal with the BF3 engine would provide plenty of cover for everyone from the dam chopper whores.

No, it's been laggy as hell for me all week. The amount of kills im loosing out on due to lag is very frustrating. So much so i almost broke my keyboard earlier due to being so fed up with it.:(

anyone else think the 4 AK maps arent enough?

the base game maps are quite shocking and i only play 4 out of the 9 maps (not including B2K maps) and after 10 months have become really stale.

cant see me playing for long with just 4 maps.

Yup after few games on larger vanilla maps (caspian, firestorm, kharg) and on grand bazaar, my interest diminishes. It gets very boring if I continuously play the game. I just play this game periodically and find this game lacks sustained gamer interest. I don't even bother with other vanilla maps lol.

Even from B2K maps, I only occassionally enjoy karkand and oman. I haven't bought premium dlc, so can't comment on those new maps.

close quarters gets boring real quick. extremely repetitive

i got a refund. ;)

The night maps are a joke tbh, you still get sun glare on scopes. Which you shouldnt get anyway even on daytime maps. Sniper scopes use extended sun shades to prevent this.

Its nothing to do with glint, the amount of light they emit its like they have a maglite taped to the side of their rifle.

Its a balancing mechanic designed to stop them from hiding in corners sniping unseen.

Doesnt work of course if you're pro enough to snipe with an ACOG :D

I was originally going to talk about the sun glare then I sort of went off on a rant so I'm sticking it in spoiler tags :p

The sun on most of the current maps is extremely annoying. It gives a massive advantage to people with their backs to the sun. If you are running into the sun you have to look down so you can actually see where the hell you are going. Even the slightest ray seems to send my whole monitor white/orange. This then messes up your reaction time because you have further to travel with your aim.

Flash lights used to be ok as all you would have to do is aim up slightly from the centre of the god rays and you would headshot. Now it seems to take a whole god damn clip and some luck.

Glint on sniper rifles I'm fine with because some of the positions you can get in to without being seen is just silly. I believe however there is a way around the glint but I don't know what it is. Lately people have been sniping me with no glint, after checking multiple times they seem to have pushed their scopes into some kind of wall or mound... unless theres an attachment I don't know about they shouldn't be able to shoot through solid objects point blank without taking damage themselves.

God damn bullet trails are almost non existent now too. I used to be able to see every bullet or the feeling of seeing every bullet trail. Now I see one, maybe 2 with no chance of guessing its origin. I have a suspicion that flash suppressors are affecting the trails which they shouldn't be..

Lastly the ridiculous bullet loss on this game is just crazy. 2 nights ago I was hardly hitting anything. Last night it improved a bit and my KD drastically improved.
That's not the only thing, if someones head is sticking above a barrier and I'm firing at it I'll take maybe 60% off, this will not count as a headshot. HOW CAN IT NOT BE A HEAD SHOT! ITS THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE!
This then ends with them firing a couple of bullets in my direction and taking around 80% of my health.

Anyway this game ****es me off and the only reason I play it is because there's nothing else modern enough. I refuse to try black ops again and mw2/cod4 is old hat.

Edit: I found I'm better sniping with a stock .44 rather than the sv98 I usually use :p

Same, the game annoys me soooo much (especially vehicle whores, more so helis and jet whores that just spawn rape), but the only reason I play it, is that there is no other multiplayer games I like the look of :p :( (love BC 2, but have over 600 hours on it and I am pretty bored of it and know the maps far too well)

I would also much rather have the bullet trails from snipers than the scope glint.

I keep getting "connection lost" error today within the first few mins of playing on a server, even though I played the exact same one yesterday for hours with no problems, whats the deal?

....which is exactly what a sniper is meant to do.

If it was a proper dynamic scope glint (ie, it could be mitigated by hiding in shadow or facing away from the sun, etc) then it would be pretty cool. As it stands though, it's just a bloody great signpost saying "here I am!" to act as a crutch for people who get annoyed at being killed by an unseen assailant.

A sniper sitting in the same spot doing nothing can be annoying, as it is in most games, but I would rather a mechanic that limited the amount of snipers in game, instead than making them ridiculously easy to see.

^^

The glint is very annoying (and I play mostly assault - heh)

Thing is, a sniper in the same spot is really easy to counter. It's when they are at a high point with all access routes covered and hiding behind a mound that they can shoot through but you cannot.

Good snipers use 4x or lower when engaging at distances in which they can be countered easily by any other weapon.

Anything larger than should be used at engagement ranges where it's highly unlikely anything but another good sniper is going to be able to kill you before you can kill them.

exactly

If you're up at the top of the hill on Firestorm its extremely unlikely anybody but another sniper is going to see the glint !

If you're using an 8X Scope looking along the alley of Grand Bazaar, you're doing it wrong.

Try the ACOG 4X Scope or the PKA 3.4X Scope. For maps other than firestorm / Kharg / Caspian it works really well.

It only takes one or two wookies to spoilt for everybody else though, so that wouldn't really solve the problem.

If you're not a wookie, and actually participating in the game, you'll do fine with a 4X Scope or 3.4X. I do, and i'm using analogue Xbox 360 sticks, not a mouse !
