*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Please forgive this question if it's noobtastic, but I don't really have experience with "The Cloud" and I've heard that due to the limited storage (unrooted), the cloud was big in Google's minds.

So... is there some kind of cloud functionality built into the Nexus 7 or is it up to the user to find their own online storage and apps that can access it (It would probably just be my MP3s)

Cheers

So I decided to treat myself to one of these seeing as they an absolute bargain price. For £200 I am amazed, it so so quick and fluid, a world away from my Playbook. I am interested in using external memory sticks for storage but can anyone tell me what app I need to do this? I have already rooted by the way as I know this is necessary.

Is anyone using anything other than the stock rom at the moment and if so what is it and why?

Cheers

Jimmied open my sisters bday present so I can have a play with it before I give it to her tomorrow. I have to give it to her without the sleeve as I've kind of ruined it :-D .

First impressions are very good. The build and design are very smart.

The 7 is very speedy and smooth... A lovely change from androids of old. Though the screen on mine sems very washed out and under saturated.

Are there mystical stock issues with these or something? Just checked eBay and there are loads on there for well over £200. Even some auctions for second hand ones are going over £200?

Aren't they still £160/£200 new and available now?

Theirs the obvious delay between physical stores selling out and getting deliveries in. But no real long shortages!

Tried to order from the Google store earlier and my card was rejected for whatever reason! Tried entering it a few times in case I was missing a digit but no luck. I guess Google don't want my monies. :( It does however say my order is on hold so I should probably phone on Monday to make sure they definitely haven't taken anything...

Physically, in stores it took me 2 weeks to find one. However certain competitors of ocuk have had hundreds in stock for next day delivery for ages. I wanted to inspect the one i bought before leaving the shop, I couldnt be bothered with DSR.

Your probably used to gaudy oleds :p rendered colours are quite accurate. But the greyscale is a bit messed up for photos/vids.

Soo true it hurts - I went back to the Tab 7.7 after using the N7 for a while and I was shocked at how un-natural and over saturated the colours looked.

I still stand bt that the N7 has a low colour gamut:

The sweet spot is the ipad3 - would be the perfect screen if it had OLED blacks.

Anyways, for the money the N7 screen is more than pleasing - the performance is just excellent and very uniformly fast.

I'm surprised by the lack of Haptic feedback, and I miss the brightness slider in the notification (7.7).

Here's the current homescreen:

Really like that top bar with the time and weather on it. How do I get that?

For the people that have moved from a 10" tablet to this... Does the decrease in size bother you at all?
The Advent Vega is struggling these days, bored with flashing custom roms and messing about keeping the touch screen accurate...
The Nexus looks great, I'm just concerned about the drop in size.

I downsized form a HP Touchpad with CM9 on ti to this and I dont miss the size at all.

I found the size and bulk of it just too much just to carry around and casuall use. Plus it doesnt hurt as much when you drop it on your face in bed :o
