*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Took the plunge and bought one on Friday, it has the screen raise issue but I didn't think it would bother me too much. I placed something heavy on it over night to try fix it but to no avail.

Admittedly I was wrong about it being a minor issue earlier in the thread it is quite annoying. I'll exchange and try get one without the issue if not I'll just get a refund till the issue (if ever) will be resolved.

Is their much screen rise on yours, or is it like mine, when you thumb is holding it you get the creeking loose kinda sound.

For the people that have moved from a 10" tablet to this... Does the decrease in size bother you at all?
The Advent Vega is struggling these days, bored with flashing custom roms and messing about keeping the touch screen accurate...
The Nexus looks great, I'm just concerned about the drop in size.

The only thing that really gives it away is typing in portrait mode for me, but then its so much faster with Swiftkey in portrait mode just holding and using your thumbs.
Overall you may notice but only if you do a side by side comparison.

Not sure if people have cottoned on but every google account you sign in/register on the N7, you receive the £15 play credit on each account.

Also all my paid apps remained on my sister's N7 when I removed my account :D

Is it something that ruins the device, or is it just a minor annoyance you don't really notice?

Had my replacement for some time now and still doesn't have any screen raise. The right side sometimes creaks when I pinch it too hard but there's no screen lift, maybe screws just need tightening. I did have one night where it didn't want to charge but think it was down to not using the original cable.

The trouble is, now I know about it I would notice even the slightest bit of lift.

Is there anythin else out there, new or second hand, worth buying for £150?

Anyone that was told about being refunded, got their money back? In Friday wallet said that it was refunded yet still not on my account....

what is the make/model of the external hard disk you have? I'm thinking about getting a portable external hard disk but someone on here said usb powered external drives don't work on the nexus 7.

I have a Toshiba 500gb USB3 P/N HDTB105EK3AA picked up from the purple store on offer at £42.99, couldn't pass it up at that price.

I've just Unlocked/Rooted my N7 at the weekend and got my usb OTG cable off the bay.

Tried and tested as working I'm now watching a 720p movie off the harddrive awesome :) 500gb of storage :D

Interesting since I have 3 Gmail accounts to myself. I could be greedy. But I won't :p

Looks like my this second device is developing a screen issue. It had very slight lift when i got it but not as bad as my first - but it's getting noticeably worse. I'm still prepared to live with it but if it gets as obvious/bad as my original I'll return it.

Does anyone know Tescos policy after 28 days - will they just replace it or would I have to go the dreaded ASUS route (TBH, the screen would have to be hanging off before I had to RMA to ASUS?

I may wait until they've definitely got a revised batch out before I do though.

The fact that it's on the side that gets hot makes me wonder if it's as much a glue issue as it is screws/foam.

Anyone tried the fix and had permanent results?
