VDV leaving is because his wife lives mostly in another country, so living with her is probably a very appealing idea. He tried to leave last year with loads of talk about him going back to Hamburg but with Spurs asking for too much seemingly. It seems like he's happy to be at Spurs, he doesn't hate it but his prefered choice being moving way closer to his wife's job so I'd guess he'll jump at the chance to move to Germany if Spurs accept an offer.
Spurs weren't the 3rd best side in the league ever, Chelsea can come 6th and still have the third best side in the country. Putting an idiot in charge doesn't change the underlying team. Spurs were arguably 4th best, they were 3rd best in the league but their own idiot in charge threw that away. But Wenger does his own stupid crap to throw away points as well.
Who will come where this season, who knows. If we actually get shot of Walcott and bring in Navas, even with weak fullbacks we'll be starting to resemble a team that knows how to play football properly again. If Giroud and Podolski never get firing, we might be screwed. Newcastle have improved, not dramatically, little steps, from a strong team and improving isn't a bad thing though.
Spurs I can't see doing great, Ade, with a full contract and no need to try till its almost up.... good luck

AVB in charge, good luck, bringing in a guy to replace Modric and keep the team ticking over, not signed that player yet and he need to get up to speed with the league, the team, I can't see that going well that quickly to be honest.
