Now thats the kind of midfielder Utd need............:D
I did some googling earlier for "best defensive midfielders" to see what names come up. There are a few good articles, but also an incredible number of forum discussions and threads by Utd fans that the club: desperately need a tough tackling defensive player, they still have no replacement for Roy Keane, and Carrick is no good in the holding role, or is just plain rubbish.

It's a peculiar obsession. Since Roy Keane left: 4 Premiership titles, 1 European Cup and 1 League Cup. Not too shabby for 7 seasons!

Well we have just given him the captains armband :D
I did nearly spit my tea out when I read it. I wonder if the people coming up with this stuff are delusional or just getting some jollies trying to wind up fans?

Richards is first choice RB. Zabs played the last few games last season because Mancini didn't want to change the team.

When he comes back from injury he will become first choice again.

If we sign Maicon I think Mancini will really focus on moving Richards to CB so Maicon is RWB in a 352 system or even Maicon becomes a CB.

Former Manchester United defender Ezekiel Fryers has signed a two-year contract with Belgian club Standard Liege.

The 19-year-old, whose deal with the Red Devils expired in June, made his senior debut for Sir Alex Ferguson's side last September in a Carling Cup tie.

Fryers went on to make a further five appearances for United but has now moved to Standard after catching their eye a couple of years ago.

"We spotted Ezekiel two years ago at an elite tournament where England and Belgium participated," sporting director Jean-Francois de Sart told the club's official website.

"We have followed him since. He was out of contract with Manchester United and it was a great opportunity we could not miss."

lol

Sahin choice should be made pretty soon. AFC and LFC agreed all with Madrid. Now up to player. At LFC they think he can still be convinced

Is he a bit dense or something? Arsenal are a far better option.

If Madrid/Mourinho don't want to sell Sahin, and Mourinho wants Sahin to get experience playing a style under a manager that Mourinho likes, then it makes a lot of sense that the Madrid camp are pushing the LFC deal. They could be selling the idea to Sahin with the promise that he would come back to Madrid as one of their first choice players.

In effect the choice from Sahin's point of view is go to LFC with a plan to return to Madrid, or go to Arsenal for the long term. That said, I see no reason why couldn't succeed and end up preferring to stay at Liverpool.

Why was Richards left out of all but 1 of your CL games? Zabaleta's far better than Richards.
Is he a bit dense or something?

Clearly. He's considering Arsenal.

edit: Although I'd imagine the kebabs in North London are better than they are in Liverpool - that's the only excuse he's got.

Wigan accept bid for Victor Moses from Chelsea. Fee believed to be around £9m.

Breaking News on SSN right now.

Just lol Chelsea, I'm sorry but pointless, completely pointless!

Yeah Maicon coming in doesn't have to mean the end for Richards, he should be fine in the right of a three you'd think and probably a better option than Toure.

You'll be saying the same about Rodgers soon :p.

Liverpool gave us Dempsey's possible replacement for free anyway :p

You mean Hodgson gave you him and LdV (can't remember how to spell his name) and £5m - for Konchesky :(

I'm not sure which of Moses to Chelsea or Song to Barca is the most pointless.

Chelsea should be ok for homegrown quota of 8 as long as Lampard keeps going:

Turnbull
Cole
Terry
Cahill
Bertrand
Lampard
Kakuta
Sturridge

Obviously Moses might replace Kakuta in that list I suppose, who can then slot back in when Lampard retires.

In general I think HG quota is massively blown out of proportion in terms of significance, there aren't really any English clubs that suffer from it, apart from anything else your 18th best foreign player over the age of 21 who misses out probably isn't going to make the difference between winning trophies or not. If it is enforceable the FFP ruling should have vastly more impact.

Wish Fulham would go for a couple of English backups/first teamers. Got enough home grown, but would be nice to have some good english talent in the ranks :(

Kačaniklić - fantastic player. We have your old chief scout (or similar) I think too!

I actually meant the Finnish striker's name I couldn't spell. I couldn't spell Kačaniklić off the top of my head either though :p

Malcolm Elias was only a scout for the academy - the club got rid of him as part of the shake-up of our academy.
