I've moved from my 2yr old+ iphone 4 to a Galaxy S3. I like the Android OS and the S3 itself is fast and fluid to use, so absolutely no complaints with usability. I've also got all my music/videos across from itunes as well so have all the content I wanted and with the SD slot can have all of it on the phone at one time.
The one negative thing that has struck me though is that looking at the S3 face on, with brightness on auto or when dialled up to full the on screen whites just aren't white. I'm comparing the white background in e-mail or when browsing the web and they have more of a grey/off white cast to them when sat beside the old iphone or my nexus 7 tablet.
It's sort of balanced out by photo's having more pop than on the iphone screen (I'm talking ones I've taken with dslr, scaled down and viewed on both handsets) but I do wonder if there's something I can do about the off whites ?

What screen mode have you got selected? (In Display options)
 
I've tried all 4 of the screen modes (dynami, natural, standard and movie) and settled on standard for now as I prefer that out of the 4 available.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to suggest I stop comparing it, lol. It's a fair point, but it's tricky when the phone and tablet can be sat beside one another while I mess about with them. :)
 
I've noticed white can be yellowy, but I've noticed that with all non-Apple phones to be honest. Must be a warmth setting.

You get used to it, but fiddling with those settings can help.
 
Tell you what I miss from iOS - tapping to menu bar to scroll to the top. There's an option for it, but I can't make it work.

Cant fault the dev for keeping this up to date. He was even uploading new firmware while on holiday.


Been faffing about with v16 and it seems really nice. No problems as of yet. Roll on Thursday when it becomes official.

What does the apple court case mean for the sg3 and note2? Are there going to be software updates to remove the infringements? I'm thinking custom roms would become very popular!

Yeah major props to him, I wouldn't want anything to do with it whilst on holiday. :p

Going to download v16 now. Been having all sorts of problems with 14 to be honest (a lot of apps stopping responding being the main thing)

Edit : Think I might need to do a full wipe for this one, just tapping on the favorites icon on internet causes it to stop responding. ¬_¬

You got the power mode enabled...;)

You need to choose the default mode to get white backgrounds in the browser..

So, how many any T-Mobile/Orange/Three SGS3 owners will swap to the LTE version when it comes out? (Same Exynos SoC + 2GB)

I'm not a huge OLED fan but start comparing the blacks and wonderfully bright colours. Your iPhone will look rather dull and grey after a few days. :)

do a full wipe dude i had loads of problem with fc's ubtil i did it with v16 :-)
 
Can anyone point me in the direction of a pure android ROM that I can have a look at on my S3?

Specifically looking for vanilla Android ICS.
