Lol!
£3.5k is a silly sum to spend on an eleven year old 325ti - £2.5k is plenty, nobody likes them. Don't know why you're insisting on cars from dealers though, it's near impossible to tell anything about the last person that owned the car (unless it's full of dents)
How about a VW Corrado? The VR6 and the G60 will both give 22mpg urban - they look nice and both will hit 60 sub 7.5 seconds - automatic spoiler - VW reliability - what's not to like?
(downside - you will always be fixing it) ;p
lol cheapest 'fast' cars I know of would be twin cam Honda engines, 1.6 and up. With vtec would be nicer and not sluggish around town or cost a lot. Cheapest Ive seen is 100Mondeo 1.8 (I thought it was broke but its just slow tho v-reliable).
driving that 04 Clio Sport the other night really put me off a fast car: it was a 2.3k shed!
2300 is not a lot of money in the great scheme of things though.
You do get what you pay for with hot hatches due to the nature of abuse they're bound to get![]()

worth a look?
170brake, 32MPG, cheap as chips, reliable as, er, chips?![]()
Naa, I could get something better, though perhaps not quicker. Plus that looks like a 1 MOT car, as in next MOT in May its bye, bye.
