*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

Pretty sure that a beta test involves actually playing the game..Getting disconnected every 10 minutes is not a beta, it's a POS.

By getting disconnected and crashing you are helping them identify the problem though. Unforeseen issues with patches are to be expected in betas like this one where it actually is a beta product compared to todays meaning of beta whereby its basically a preview demo.

In the 3 weeks ive been playing ive only had 1 disconnection and a couple of log in problems but nothing that i see as too much of an issue.

Considering my low spec (Phenom 940, ATI 4870) it runs pretty well :)

They should have staggered the release of more keys.

They completely overwhelmed the servers, combined with having a brand new build of the game.

I hope it doesnt put too many people off because I think the game has a lot of potential.

Glad this is a proper beta so you can enjoy the development process

First proper BETA that ive been in, the rest have been glorified demos, currently:

Random disconnects (Exits to desktop)
No muzzle flash/recoil
Dont see the point in the loading screen saying "Loading textures" as the textures are god awful, mainly on the ground/terrain :D im sure there are lots of other issues but those are the main ones i came across.

Im just thankful im in the beta, really enjoyed my first session :)

Remember people. If you have issues such as crashes and so on, don't just complain about them here. Go to the official forums and tell them about it! They will tell you where you can find logs, and then they can fix your problem! If they don't know about the crash, they won't be able to fix it :)

Was reading the official forums earlier and it looks as if any crash that happens the log is automatically sent along to Sony. So basically keep crashing to get it sorted :D

The textures are low res on purpose. High res ones will be released later on when the games been optimized enough to support them. There was a dev post about this.

Outfits are hit & miss at the moment.

Didn't see ours for a week (Smurf Assault Squad) but then it appeared again after the patch yesterday :D

It'll probably bugger off again today :P

Had the most amazing evening on EU Beta 02.

Played from 5pm 'til just now - platoon with two 12 man squads, double gal drops, tank columns etc. Huge battles and best of all - not one person (yes out of 24 platoon members) crashed during that whole play session.

If PS2 is this much fun in beta I can kiss my life good bye once they've added everything they have planned!

I really enjoyed the original Planetside, but I'm having a hard time enjoying Planetside 2. There doesn't feel like there is any direction to the battle, just seems to be all over the place. I can't choose to spawn close to spawn wherever I want so I end up close to a front line (if that even exists in PS2), so always end up having to get my own transport. The Max suits can't even run (unless I'm missing a button somewhere) which makes them completely pants unless you find a transport that can handle Max suits.

I'm just not quite getting the same epic battles as the first Planetside, and not able to get into the fights as quickly as before.

Id agree but im sure the reason its not feeling the same is cause im playing by myself.

IA fights solo were always boring as hell but finding a outfit and playing abit more team based will help im sure. there does seem to be too much of a spread to the fight so far and no massive battle around a front line as you say but that comes structure and as theres no CR that i have seen so far its abit everyman for himself, which even PS was att he start till it got organised.

You need to get in an outfit that runs organised squads.

No point playing PS2 solo.

They can - use shift key to toggle.

Is you squad SL not putting down spawn beacons or making sure a GAL is deployed?

I haven't bothered to find an outfit yet, I'm sure my experience would be better in an Outfit. However I do remember in PS1 that I could just go out alone and get stuck in to the action almost instantly, whereas it seems more difficult to do so in PS2.

The Max can run, but it seems barely faster than walk speed, and is nowhere near as fast as the 'sprint mode' that Max suits could enter in PS1.

what server should I be joining?

also when is it open to play as I noticed its only available between certain hours

I'm pretty ****** off after playing PS1 for two years and not get into the beta.

If you played for 2 years your in the beta. You just need to put some effort in to getting it activated.

If the downloaded link doesnt work for you (it has worked for plenty of others with no welcome to beta email) then just email [email protected]

There are also hundreds of keys been given away on FB and Twitter every single day. That will now give instant access.

Join EU 01 or EU 02. Servers are usually up at 2pm UK time. I found the game incredibly boring initially, but try and find a squad who are communicating over voice chat, spawn on Galaxy's as that is usually where the action is.

I have been on some HUGE battles in PS2, they were incredible and nothing like I experienced in any other game. Rolling in a column of 15 or so tanks with Scythes, Libs and Gals above you is amazing.
