*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

First impressions give the age old, 'empty clip into someone without success but take a couple bullets yourself and you're dead'. Feels inconsistent. :s

Just went for a quick mess around as TR on EU1 within about 5 minutes i was defending the crown versus some vanu after pushing them out the first time we pushed them down the hill only to be greeted by around 3 galaxy ships flying overhead with support towards the crown cue everyone rushing back to try save it alas we didn't and got massively overwhelmed. It was fantastic to see though.

Also love that as a TR the sniper is actually effective, i think i might give a little more play to the TR then hit up the NC to see who i will finally choose.

Played a bit more tonight and I'm finding it difficult to actually get on to the front line.

There seems to a massive lack of spawn points when on the deployment screen. In the first planetside, you could spawn on any of your faction owned bases or towers. Yet in PS2, I have a choice of two bases, which are typically as far from the action as you can be. If I don't have my own transport, then, then good luck getting to the front line.

I hope I'm missing something here.

Live stream on higbys channel of a design meeting, some nice fixes coming along soon sounds as if they are reading everything on the forum which is ace.

That's pretty cool, am watching it now. Good to see developers interacting with the players.

They said before that every outpost and capturable base will have a spawn point and flash spawner before which should help massively with getting back to the battle and that should be in next patch :D

Yeah I heard that :) Quite a coincidence that I moaned about it then heard they were fixing it minutes later!

They need to get something to have the Infantry wars flowing across this great environment they are building...

Right now its just not flowing... its a MAX zerg and no lifers who can get 12500+ auraxium(sp) buy reaver rocket pods and reap the spam...

I know its a beta and has a long way to come i look forward to the next lot of changes

Erm, that's not true. In PS1 you had the maximum of 4 spawn choices;

Nearest base
Nearest tower
Nearest AMS
One base / ams you had bound at

Otherwise back hacking would be impossible.

Iwas expecting more random battles between bases, i could just jump on a quad bike and travel for what seemed like miles without even encountering an enemy, or friend for that matter.

Yet then again i suppose it makes sense only to have the battles take place at the front lines.

Is it even possible (in theory) to fly way behind enemy lines and start capping bases? Or does it only work by pushing the frontline.

Yes you can and it's a bit of a problem at the moment, 1 guy on a flash (atv) or a aircraft can go from base to base capping them with no resistance because all the main forces are up at the front line. They are putting in adjacency rules pretty soon to curb that, but they still want back-hacking (taking hex's behind enemy lines) to be possible.

Have a look on the beta forums for more info, can't say that much here.

This is the latest dev feedback design meeting. This is MHIGBYs twitch page so not NDA breaking.

It explains how the "frontline" is changing. This should make getting to the battle easier (because the hotspots will be there).
It will also make back hacking not possible.
They are planning on adding extra mechanics so it will return in a more organsied and less easy form.

The lack of random battles between bases is down to how people are playing the game. For the most part its just a zerg fest. Zerg to the crown and fight in or around it all night.

The game needs, more organised outfit operations and more importantly the auto-mission system. If the auto-mission system was funneling people in multiple directions, there would be multiple medium scale fights rather than 1 massive one and lots of little ones. This also has the side effect of increasing performance client side.

ANyone else have to redownload the game? in the past few days? I haven't been on, as I hadn't been enjoying it.. mainly because I can't seem to select 'join an oufit' from the outfit screen which is just bloody stupid.
