Guild Wars 2

Could you post a screenshot of the servers atm? Curious where to migrate to.

The guys from the ocuk League of Legends thread are on Gunnar's Hold - good ggroup of guys and we have a mumble server. Thombasmonkey is guild head if you want an invite - we're quite relaxed if you're looking more for grouping up rather than a guild to take over the world :)

The Immortals is on Desolation.

Going in Circles is on Gunnar's Hold.

Both seem to have a lot of OCUK people in. GOC is pretty much only OCUKers at the moment, not as many members but it's on a medium server (last time I looked anyway).

This, we a decent sized guild now, about 120 in, with I think around 70 of them from here, if not more.

So, just curious, what's the point of servers if it has no effect on WvW?

What benefit does being in server A provide over being in server B? Apart from the people will differ.

A server is just a place to store people in, but you cant have everyone in the same server since it would be massively unstable hence why they have multiple servers , also region comes into it aswell (so US only servers etc) to help ping.

So if you have friends playing the game it might be good to be on the same server as them (so you can see them) but otherwise its really a non-issue.

obviously you want to pick a server that has a lot of people on it so you can do events etc in big groups and it makes things easier to manage, so i would suggest not choosing a low server for now.

WvWvW is just a game mode , kinda like PvP but more mass scale

You get really good buffs for winning these wvwvw events, think on desolution we getting a 15% health buff right now with something else which I forget right now.

Just been running around all the Karma vendors that i hadn't bothered to look at and damn the armour starts looking much better in the mid 20's. I've been running around in plain looking stuff not realising.

Have you completely misunderstood his tone and intent with that question? He's essentially adopting the stance that end-game content isn't/shouldn't be so important. It's the entire raison of an MMO game. The leveling content forms a nice little journey but 99% of people are about the end-game destination.

I kinda agree, end game raiding get's sooooo boring, just the same slog over and over. After vanilla wow I'd play for the expansions then quit a few weeks after hitting level cap. Hopefully WvWvW will keep interest going in GW2.

I've just rolled a Norn Ranger as I like the idea of having a pet and the ability to use melee as well as a bow very efficiently. Just like GW1 with a hammer ranger!

Have been playing a Warrior up until that and hit level 14 and not sure I was getting on with it too well as it was virtually impossible to see what was going on when on big dynamic event missions.

Seems all the ele's get the action there as they nuke the chit out of everything in sight.

So with regards to WvW like when you push b you get the WvW screen, and it shows you 3 server names, i assumed those 3 were yours, and the 2 you were fighting against. What relevance do those 3 servers have if it's just a pool of players from random servers? How do you get points and buffs etc?

You can fight for any world you want, basically its just the type of environment your getting to play in snow, desert, grass

its just a game mode, nothing to do with server population or servers your on.
your capture/storm objectives to get points/exp etc...

At the moment it's your server vs 2 other random servers (Desolation vs Gandara vs Aurora Glade for example). I beleive once the 1st round of 2 weeks is over, your server will then be matched with 2 other servers that are closer to how you performed in the last round.

You (your server)will be constently matched to other servers that have performed aswell as you have in the 2 weeks prior to reset.

You get points for meeting objectives, taking of keeps, castles etc (jumping puzzles too I think)

Thinks its a 48 hour turn time now while they pick up data, then will revert to 2 weeks cycles.

Does anyone else find themselves thinking "If Guild Wars 2 needed a subscription I'd have cancelled it by now"?
If it needed a subscription, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. ;)

I love the animations in this game, especially for the asura. Threatening the inquisition people looks so funny! :D

There's obviously something I'm missing, but why would it match servers, if servers are irrelevant? When you join the queue is it a pool of those 3 servers in that list? How did your server gain points? Do people from your server do tasks in the general WvW and those points count for your buffs, even though you're not directly fighting for your server?

So far this game really doesn't have a 'massive' or 'epic' feel for me... not even as massive or captivating of the imagination as TERA. I am really surprised and sort of disappointed by this :( . They have clearly taken a lot of time to create a massive, intricate gameworld... but the gameplay elements itself are completely self-defeating. Zipping around everywhere with the Teleport tool, constantly sharded off to Overflows and separated from other zones by loading screens... I feel like I'm basically in a CORPG sandbox, just like in GW1. It hasn't really stepped up to the 'Massive' genre at all, in my opinion.
