***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Hi guys,

Just wondering if you think this phone is still worth it? I'm on a little budget, i currently have an iPhone 4s, so thinking of swapping this for a Nexus, I am trying for an S3, but they seem just out of budget for me really.

its brand new, have a look on the site mate, you might find a contract with cashback will work out cheaper (and you can always pay the contract off in one hit)

yeah or private sale, AVforums / gumtree (make sure they collect)

ebay for high end phones is just not worth it anymore, mate sold one and then they said it broke and sent back under paypal dispute a completely dead and different iphone, had to get the police and all sorts involved,

I've been having numerous problems with my S3 (display issues), and the two replacements that I've had have been exactly the same.

Now I'm considering a Galaxy Nexus. The £140 saving is appealing, and if I'm only keeping the phone for a couple of years, updates shouldn't be an issue. Question is, is it a good move? To be honest my usage is mainly browsing, calls, texting, no games or even apps of the sort. My main concern is with the new Nexus device(s) coming out, and the price of those. If they're over £400 (ie. they aren't merely spec-bumps of the current devices), then obviously I won't be concerned as the GNex is dirt cheap right now!

Ok one more question, how is the battery life on the nexus? Decent, techradar doesn't rate it much?

Depends on usage. I can get 2 days life with light usage (web browsing, texting), or around 1 day with fairly heavy usage (phone calls, texts, web browsing).

Very pleased with the Nexus so far.

Quick query though:

I typically keep my phones on silent yet this doesn't mute application sounds. I know you can adjust the volume slider for media but then this also adjusts it for when the phone is on loud mode.

Is there a simple fix?
