Nvidia fan thinking of turning

What I will say though is on a blank slate the card to get at the price points at the mo is the 7950. :)

I've always liked the 7950. It would appeal to me a lot more than the 7970 personally.

Edit: in the same way the 670 would over the 680 had I not already bought one on release day.

Boo! All the cool dudes are using 7970's.

But all the hot chicks love the men with the 680's :p It is a proven fact that women find men who own the 680 irresistable and become putty in their hands. (It was an article in Heat magazine).

Only due to the price performance ratio really. While I have no problem stumping out whatever is needed to get acceptable performance I do feel like I need to get my money's worth as well.

I edited actually to say the same about the 670/680 as well.

Lol.

9 out of 10 AMD users have above average sized genitalia according to a recent youguv poll.

Whats the difference between nvidia 3D vision and AMD 3D surround? And why can't he use it?

The OP said he would consider an AMD card, you have stuffed a card that no better costing £80 more into his basket. should he not make his own choice first?

If the OP uses the Nvidia 3D vision (I assume he does), then he would be foolish to buy a 7950 even though it is a bargain at the current price. The 670 is the wisest choice for the OP and I would recommend the WF :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.95
Total : £329.95 (includes shipping : FREE).

Ive not seen the OP post whether he has the 3dvision kit or not, obviously this will play a big part in which GPU would be best for him, perhaps he can clarify?

If he has a 3D monitor that came bundled with it's own 3D glasses, 3D works through tridef, he can buy either Nvidia/Amd, if however he only has Nvidia 3D surround kit which only works with Nvidia, it's the only way for him to use 3D without requiring a new monitor.

You need to do your home work before you start pulling people up on posts. I recommend the 670 if he is using 3D vision.

My point is you don't know what 2D setup he is using, yet.

Of course I don't. That is why in brackets I put (I would assume) if my assumption is incorrect, I expect the OP to tell me that and I would then advise him a 7950.

You need to chill out and stop thinking everybody is a target. You are coming across as quite an AMD fanboy with anybody who dares to look at Team Green as being a heathen. You seem like a decent chap who means well but sadly, you are not coming across as this lately :(

On the I assume, fair enough. So i will apologize for that.

(AMD fanboy) Anyone reading through my post history will see i am no AMD fanboy.

Also pointless argument is pointless. We all have our preferences. And to be honest it comes down to your preferred branding.

I don't mind paying a premium for nvidia. As I feel they are overall a more well rounded package in general with nice drivers features and performance. Yes I include physx in that :p

But the equivalent ati cards are good too. It's good that whatever one buys they will get good performance. Healthy competition ftw. Unlike with intel vs amd where it is skewed quite far to one side

No need to argue what is. In reality small change and small frames rate differences..

I completely agree with that, i have no problem with anyone simply saying i don't care about the price difference i still want nvidia.

Frankly, it annoys the crap out of me when people are criticized for simply having a preference regardless of cost and overall performance.

But it is what it is, nvidia or AMD across the board the AMD cards are at least every bit as good, and much cheaper!

In the same way right now Intel offer better value overall in CPU's

recommending one card over another in the same performance bracket but is £80 less is not fanboyism, its good sense.

I find it hard to take purchasing decisions too seriously from someone who actually paid money for a phenom x6... :D :D

oh... i have had it for a long time, pre Sandy Bridge, note i don't have a Bulldozer.

Anyway, i do like it, for now. I don't just run Window$ on it. its a freaking monster in Linux x64
