MBP 15" retina 3-4 weeks!!

Number 3 arrived today. It doesn't creak, and the case / coating appears to be defect free.

I'm still a bit :| about it though, it doesn't 'appear' to be new. There's signs that the magsafe and thunderbolt connectors have been used before. I guess it could be from testing in the factory, but if that's the case then they've been careless about it and I'm sure number 2 didn't have such marks!

Send it back!

Explain your disdain and get a free speed bumped/storage increased one! :D

On a off topic note, i'm tempted to get a keyboard cover to avoid wear on the black keys. I rarely use the laptop keyboard but for when i do and over say 2-3 years of when i actually do i want to avoid wear on it.

This isn't me being a jerk about this is it, I mean a £2k laptop shouldn't have a mark like this on it out of the box.

Hmmm you're not having much luck are you! :(

Just ordered some silicone keyboard cover skins! 1 for the laptop and 1 for my wireless. Got the black keyed ones so it's going to make my wireless keyboard blend in with my setup a bit better. We'll see if they become annoying when in use though!

I can see the mark in the corner of the furthest thunderbolt port but can't see the one on the magsafe connector. But yeah I guess it shouldn't be there.

The one on the magsafe connector is at the end of it, near the pins. It's not damaged as such, just shows that it has been used. As I say, that could've been from when it was tested - but that dent/chip on the Thunderbolt port doesn't seem right.

Ask for a replacement before they come and get the new ones. Might mix things up a bit and you end up with two somehow! Haha!

Got my silicone keyboards covers this morning. Wish they'd make a black keyed wireless keyboard. I'v tried to to get some keys but hard and costs a lot to get single keys.

We'll see if i can type with it for long periods.

 someone has replaced your trackpad with a mouse!

Haha! I'm sorely tempted to get a trackpad but they're not exactly cheap and need to put some money towards a new lens fund! :p

My Razer Naga Epic is pretty much the physical antithesis of what Apple products are! Haha!

Just pulled the trigger on a 2nd hand retina, 2.7GHz, 16Gb, 512Gb SSD. I used to have a 17" MacBook Pto and loved it so really looking forward to getting back into the Mac.

Do you guys use iWork or Office now? Shame there isnt a new version of iWork. I am thinking of going Parallels 8, Windows 8 and Office 2013 when its released.

Office is very good on the mac now so I've heard.

I use iWork personally and find it does everything i need it to. I think if you're a power user then it may not do some of the fancy things Office does. I love how integrated iWork is within OS X though, i too want a new version!

Was an expensive month. Mr UPS Man delivered two presents...

13" MBA, i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD for keeping mobile, and a 15" rMBP, i7, 16GB RAM, 768GB SSD for a new vmware lab machine.

First foray into the Mac world after 18 years in IT so should be fun....

Cheers Spit - blisteringly quick! I can see the appeal now. The real test will be to see how the SSD handles 7 odd nested VM's running concurrently when I get round to installing Fusion 5 and vSphere ESXi 5.1. I can't add anything new that everyone else has said about the screen already - it really is gorgeous.

AbsenceJam - the MBA is sitting on the Griffin stand and the Pro is sitting on a cheap tripod type stand from the bay. Looking at getting this to replace it http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TK789ZM/A?fnode=54&p=1 Feel paranoid putting a £3k laptop on something that cost £5
