Ford has finally bowed to demands from UK enthusiasts and will engineer a right-hand-drive version of the next-generation Ford Mustang pony car. The announcement comes as Ford reveals an expanded line-up, including the Ford Ecosport and Ford Edge.

The British Mustang is also likely to miss out on the archetypal musclecar engine — a throbbing 302 cu in (5.0-litre) V8. Instead it’s tipped to be powered by a 300bhp-plus 3.7-litre V6 or a 250bhp four-cylinder turbo EcoBoost, most likely of two-litre capacity.

Interesting, as much next car will hopefully be one. I wonder if this will make it easier to get insured on one, as that's the only thing stopping me having one right now!

370 bhp and rwd still an epic combo I'd imagine a quick flash map would see the 6 pot turbo north of 400 bhp by a fair amount too :(

The fuel consumption must be under 10, right?

Depends what engine, the V8's I'd say anywhere between 8MPG - 15MPG. The V6 is actually a fair bit better, no idea on the 4 pot as it's not in a Mustang yet.

What you lose in fuel costs you save back in other running costs like servicing and repairs though as they are as simple as you can get to work on.

2 litre 4 cyl engine just doesn't work in a mustang for me.

Guess it will keep all the eco hippies happy though. Stupid EU rules.
