Ford Mustang is coming in Right Hand Drive...in 2015

Instead of just claiming I know nothing... correct me.

There are optional packages that are available on the standard car too.

There is no dramatic suspension change, as there is with all M cars. All the Shelbys offer are changed dampers and springs, if you spec them???

Also - why are you two perfectly ok with being offered sub-par cars in comparison to the american market? This baffles me - at least give us the option! I would think quite a few people would want double power, let alone a V8.

It *should* be a 600BHP comical RWD coupe.

300BHP in something that weighs 1.8-2 tonnes is not a lot...

Where are you getting that weight figure from?

The manual V6 coupe weighs about 1,600kg. 300bhp is plenty for most people.

Running costs are the key concern for most, so the V8 would be an even more niche model. By offering a four and six-cylinder version Ford can get people into the car who otherwise wouldn't consider one. Not many would care if it didn't have a V8, they're only interested in the appearance and style.

The V6s respond well to modifications anyway, so it doesn't take much to tweak one to outrun the V8.

Because as above, the take up would be so small it would probably make the whole project inviable and we'd just end up with nothing. If there's a good take up of the V6 and enough demand we might actually end up with a V8.

Taking you back to this point, the 600BHP car the Mustang you claim should be (Super Snake) has the following:

The Super Snake also comes with a variety of other performance, handling and cosmetic changes including badging, gauge pod, 20" Alcoa wheels, fibreglass ram-air Super Snake hood, stripes, carbon fiber front splitter and skirts, larger 6-piston Baer brakes, front and rear brake cooling ducts, complete track setup suspension, aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 differential gears and cat-back exhaust system.

- Shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.

My point is you're bigging up the Mustang too much, you have your normal variants and you have the high performance ones. It would be nice to get the ball rolling over here.

Sorry for sounding stupid, but where's double the power? I thought the V8 was just shy of over 400bhp...Then again don't quote me on that I'm no expert.

Shelby, Saleen etc. are basically brand approved tuners, they are not stock cars. The Mustang itself (before it goes to a tuner) is just a generic coupe.

Sub-par? The American market is very different from the European and UK markets. Over there fuel and economy is of little concern, over here it is the utmost important thing, so there is no point in a V8. It'll produce worse economy, emissions etc. and people won't buy it because 'omg a fuel drinking V8' only hard core enthusiasts will want to buy a V8. General public will buy the I4 variant because they like the idea of a mid sized coupe that has good economy etc.

He is on about the tuned versions by the likes of Shelby.

I think in this market, the take-up would be pretty low (and therefore cost prohibitive).

The Boss 302 has a curb weight of 1650kg - the other models are heavier

That's simply not true.

3XX and M3 are completely different cars.

The Shelby and standard are almost identical.

The 2013 Shelby has 660BHP

Just go to America and then tell us we're getting a substandard one because I spent two weeks staring at V6 hire mustangs and the only reason I saw a Shelby was because I went to a Supercar Saturday meet in LA.

I don't want to sound like a crying shame purist here, because I don't necessarily have any issue with a V6 mustang, BUT...

Surely the only reason to put up with an otherwise pretty rubbish car (in standard, dealer form), was the V8 ?

If it ends up with a V6, I can't see it being too popular here either - as by far the most common question I had when rolling a V6 (only a 2.0) was "OMG A VEEEEEE-SIX , THAT MUST DRINK PETROL!".

Thus we will end up with, in my opinion, a lardy American inspired mustang looking thing, with a rubbish interior and mediocre performance from some kind of EcoBoost I4 engine. Not that I have an issue with fords new engines, they are awesome, just not in a mustang!

Because hire companies always have the best model available

Mustang is supposed to be a muscle car... the version being offered to the UK... is NOT a muscle car.

You must understand that in the UK, people love a "sports car" with an eco engine.

e.g. Audi TT, scirocco with 2.0TDI's
