Guild Wars 2

You don't need to commander badge to try and join friends in pvp, as long as they are on your friends list right click and join to do that.

The commander badge is to command the WvWvW fights, it gives them an overview of everyone on their team so they can plan attacks etc. It's at 100g otherwise everyone would have it, so only the few that really want it get it.

Its quite a bit more than that it allows you to form big groups in PvP or PvE, it has a one way chat, so everyone can see the commanders chat, but not everyone else's.

Think for large scale PvP, like WvWvW is it will make a big difference.
Pretty much till we get our badge, and they fix the Que system so we can get in with around 30 Immortals, I treat WvWvW as just a fun run around, whilst watching what the others servers do, and also what our server does.

Hey guys, is anyone else having fps troubles?

In towns (especially Lion's Arch) I get about 35-40fps, with only 60% gpu usage but 80+% cpu usage. It's an i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz, I kind of expected it to have enough grunt to not be phased by the game. Anyone else got similar builds or experiences?

quick question the game has been out for now 11 days how many hours does it take to get to 80 considering we sleep for 8 work for 12 hours leaving from 6-10 pm pm to play?

Also played the midget azura race today and hated it.... can't even understand what to do all robots look the same lol.

It took me about 80 hours to hit 80, that's including doing some PvP and messing about. I didn't hardcore level at all, just casually played through at my own pace.

Well yeah but didn't want to go into it, when it wasn't what he thought it was. It'll be good when a couple of people get them, should be a lot more organised.

What drivers are you using?

An i5 2500k will bottleneck slightly but not a massive amount.

The game in general is heavily CPU bound though.

Decided to try out an all shout support build with my guardian - 30 points in Virtues, Honor and 10 in Valor. I wasn't expecting it to be as fun as it is, although I tend to pop them pretty much all at once. Combined with the virtues, I have constant buffs, and I pretty much never have any conditions, my life usually stays within 2-3k of max and I'm doing some rock hard damage.

Doing Arah SM tomorrow.

Is it possible to farm the dungeons without being 'fully geared'? I have all rares, and a few exotics, but none of the karma temple exotics as 42k is a bit ridiculous.

And is it true that some set pieces can drop in explorable dungeons, or is that just wishful thinking? :P I have a few 50% MF consumables I wouldn't mind trying out as it seems like they're the only place worth using them.

I appear to be using up to date drivers, though Intel's site is pretty shoddy at directing you to anywhere.

I've never had any problems until now and only had this OS install for about 2 months or so, pretty sure I did the usual full-install update jazz

Any decent way of figuring this out to clarify? Cheers for the help.

You'll be fine in story mode.

Not sure about Explorable mode dungeons but I hope the drops are much better than story mode. Need to get myself in some explorable mode runs soon, been 80 for what seems like forever and still not done any!

You can get to 80 pretty fast, but the quicker you do the longer it will take to farm for exotics at level 80.

Much much better. In 3.5 runs of CM explorable I've had 3 major noble runes drop, and I need to save up to buy 5 superior noble runes from the trader (120 beetletun tokens each, ouchies).

I can use the 3 majors before I can afford the superiors, I might even get lucky and find a fourth, but Im not gonna waste them on crap gear so need to work on levelling my tailoring up. Im not really interested in the loot from AC, and havnt looked into any of the later dungeons yet, I just need my superior noble runes.

Its power + magic find runes from CM by the way, and they have the highest magic find you can get in the game.

I also had a couple of lowbie yellow items drop, but they become useless 5-10 levels later. Anything prior to level 80 gear isnt worth bothering over, just buy a cheap blue or green set off the TP every 10-15 levels then worry about yellow / orange stuff at 80.

i aint seen many mesmas about....any1 got any tips for them just this was going to be my main but not sure now i have my warrior i need to think what i want to do but would like more info with my mesma....my other is a warrior but there seems to be loads of them and i know what i am doing with him......any advice would be great.

Does anyone think that some races level the starter zones faster?

So far for me human was quicker than asura.

Just started a Sylvari much better than the Asura I love the opening sequences and now have 3 toons under 10 :D still to do Norn and Charr and there are 8 professions so to do the game justice I need to do 40 characters.... 8*5.

Still enjoying the graphics and staying away from best build websites for the moment.

One thing though how do I play PVP? Is there a portal or something and how long does a round of PVP last?

Good day, would any of you fine gentlemen be so kind as to lend me your wisdom and guidance with regards to the play style of my Warrior, as after careful consideration I have concluded him to be a far superior gaming experience than my Mesmer can provide.

Furthermore, should one continue to just craft weapons, or would it be prudent to expand my endeavours into the armour field concurrently?

....

I think my former character name may apply here :D

I have an extremely noobish question:

Would Guild Wars 2 appeal to me if I never played MMO except WoW for 2 weeks in 2004 (when it was in beta) and like singleplayer RPGs for their exploration and story?

Can GW2 be played solo as SP game, does it have great world and exploration aspects ?
Sorry for the noob question :)

The great thing about GW2 is that a lot of the time you're doing stuff in a group without realising it. Teaming up for difficult mobs, reviving people, spitting out combo fields for others, it all just seems to happen naturally without any of this LFG angst your average solo gamer avoids. The mechanics mean you don't actually have to group up for most of it.

The world has absolutely fantastic exploration aspects. I spend more time poking around than I do bashing stuff over the head.

Pretty much, though some story mode stuff may be tricky solo. as will 100% exploration and such. But if you start off alone and slowly work yourself into the MP aspect im sure you would love it

Not only is the exploring rewards/mechanics fun, its mind blowingly beautiful. The attention to detail and that Awe factor are here in spades! Really even the places i hit all the time still blow me away.
