Was at the Toyota academy in Nottingham again today, and I got to thinking, I dont like Toyota, I have no rational reason to dislike them, I just dont like them.

If I'm car hunting, I discount anything with a Toyota badge on it out of hand, no matter what or who the car is for, just..............no.

So who for you do you just discount out of hand? which badges do you not even bother looking past?

The more irrational reasons the better.

Vauxhall. They're just consistently not as good as the alternatives.

This. They don't produce bad cars, there's nothing wrong with them persay, but they're just not as good as the comparable alternatives, for example Astra vs Focus, Corsa vs Fiesta.

Not a fan of Toyota's or Vauxhalls.

Toyota because they used to make fantastic cars that were exciting - now they are the epitome of boring and nothing says "i've given up on life" more than buying a brand new Toyota.

Vauxhall because i can't think of a single one i've driven that i remotely liked or thought i would be happy to own (excluding the ones that they have just stuck their badge on, but are really made by another manufacturer)

VW, they come across as the Apple of car manufacturers with their smug advertising, and none of their cars look particularly nice at the moment. Those stupid bulging headlights, bleh.

Sssssssssang-Yong, because of the Rhombus or whatever the hell it's called.

Any of the Korean brands, rightly or wrongly the stigma attached from the last decade is too great to shake off.

I also seem to have an irrational hatred of Mercedes, well perhaps hatred is the wrong word, but there isn't a single "normal" (CLK DTM, SLR, SLS excepted) that I like the look of.

Most Japanese cars. Whilst I'm in awe of a lot of them for sheer engineering brilliance and reliability, I just despise the Japanese's idea of what an interior should look and feel like.

This is a problem I had, most manufacturers have at least ONE car in their lineup that I'd own. I don't like Audi but I'd love to own any of the S/RS models for example, nor do I like Toyota but I'd also want a GT86.

Most Korean stuff is pap but KIA are nice producing some excellent cars so I couldn't snub the whole lot :p

Toyota's, especially SUPRAS - Waits for Nath to ban hammer

:p

Anything french I generally dislike, and Fiat isn't that great for an Italian brand.

Audi, cars made purely for badge snobs IMO. All style, no substance.
Ford, uninspiring, unreliable, meh.
Vauxhall, load of tat, all of them.

I'm sure there are others. My requirements for a car are relatively specific though, I want an FR layout with an LSD and a sporting intention, don't really care about much else. If it doesn't fit this criteria then I'm not remotely interested though.

Vauxhall purely because I don't like the name. I like in the Republic and the rest of Europe they are called Opel, I like I could just buy in the Republic and bring it over, but I can't stand the Vauxhall badge and name. Its depressing and reminds me of some sort of cold war depression movie.

Crysler- hated them ever since I noticed the PT Cruiser was one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen. Also think most of the other cars they sell here look horrible...

I discount anything vauxhall almost automatically these days!

I also struggle to get my head round buying a French car.

Mercedes. With the possible exception of the gullwing 300SL they leave me completely cold and I wouldn't consider owing one, even the really quick ones. I also find the old classics with the long or stacked headlamps offensively ugly.

So there you go, irrational dislike of a premium marque.

Peugeots.

I cannot physically drive one without great discomfort. The lump next to the accellerator combined with my Size 14 feet means I have to drive with my foot sideways. I mean, why? No other car I have come acroos does this. And they are ALL ike that.

Ditto, no logical reason. I just don't like them or anything they make.
