funnily enough i went out about 9:30 this morning and thought that, I think ive decided on arm warmers and leg warmers, rather than a long sleeve jersey and trousers

I find that until it gets really properly cold (and the choice becomes between jacket or no jacket, or even just how many layers to wear under my jacket), arm/leg warmers are brilliant.

When I first crawl out in the morning I always feel really sorry for myself, my arms and legs hurt from cold and tiredness, but in warmers it's not a problem, but once you've been out half an hour and you're revelling in how lovely mornings are, you can just take them off. :)

Plus my jersey's got a cream stripe at the bottom of one arm and my shorts have a cream stripe on the end of one leg and they look super awesome with warmers. Yep.

Anyone recommend any tyres? I want to spend less than £25 each (the less the better tbh). Now I've done the c2c they'll be used on shorter, faster journeys, 30-50 milers, so I want something light and fast, puncture protection isn't tooooo important, but would be a bonus.

That looks like a pretty challenging ride, especially as you approached Northampton. Did you enjoy it, or was it an ordeal?

I really enjoyed it, it was just awesome biking round all day with a couple of mates then hitting the pub for a meal and back to the travellodge. Day two was easily the hardest, we weren't expecting it to be so long or hilly for some reason!

And here's me thinking you did it all in 1 day :p

No chance.:p When we decided to do this one about 5-6 months ago we'd only been biking for a few weeks so drunkenly set ourselves a challenge. It's been an amazing form of motivation and has gotten us to a fairly decent level of fitness. It's also taught me that I don't enjoy massive long distance rides and that I absolutely love <50mile properly hilly rides which leave me knackered out but still bouncing round the house on endorphins when I get home.

Saying that, I'm looking for a sportiv to book myself into early next year, just to keep the motivation going. After this ride my legs are the biggest they've been and I want to come out of winter fitter than I am now.

I ordered one today. I've currently got some cheapo Muddyfox jacket from Sports Direct which isn't particularly waterproof or windproof, so anything will be an improvement!

Thanks for the advice on tyres eXist.

I've just realised that I need it for tomorrow tho, so will have to see what the local shop has in stock..I might just go with the same one I've got (michelin sport dynamic or somesuch), it just seems that they wore down pretty quickly, after about 1000ish miles or so, is that normal or should they last longer?

I've ordered one of those Gore jackets today as my Endura soft shell is a bit tired now after a couple of years. Hopefully the Gore jacket will fit me properly (I'm an odd shape :p) but at £64 its a good deal.

Oh, whilst I'm here...

I'm on the scrounge for donations. :D

My Peak District ride is in 2 weeks for the British Heart Foundation. I'm not far from my target but would really like to beat it this year.

If you would like to donate you can by clicking the link in my sig. Thanks.
