OK - So I've finally bought Battlefield 3 (got the new premium version) after putting it off until now as I've been far too busy this summer, can anyone help me get started or point me towards a good guide for a n00b? I played a fair bit of Battlefield 2 but I wasn't exactly great!
I'm really liking armoured kill so far.
The ac130 isn't really that OP, other than in rush mode where it seems to spawn right after it's killed (is this a server variable?)
Anyone give a pros and cons mini review of Armoured Kill so I (and others) can decide whether it's worth getting? I only play occasionaly so I could live on just the vanilla and karkand maps if AK servers are just going to become empty in a month's time.
Thanks Devrij and Nexus. Does AK feel anything like the bigger BF2 maps/gameplay?
I agree with DG on that point as well, in a few weeks time prepare to see servers switching back to the vanilla maps again.
Probably because the increased ranges means all the people who thought they were awesome l337 snip0rz are actually realising how crap they are now while firing at targets more than 200 metres away
I played for about half an hour last night and got bored if I'm honest. Alborz Mountain was pretty good, but the desert map, not so much. However I wasn't really putting the effort in, just having a quick dabble and running around more to have a look at the map. Might try again tonight and put the effort into actually playing.
They are the only maps which feel like the bigger BF2 maps. They seem to have succeeded where B2K somehow failed.
The new maps are definitely more fun with a decent and mixed squad.
Cons:
- if you play by yourself it wouldn't be as fun (solution, jump on TS with the 247 crowd and play as a team)
Some of these maps would benefit from 96 players IMO.
I think the Desert and Mountains maps could work with 64v64, Would like to try it!
I found last night that just as a single sniper I could really mess around with the 3 close flags on Bandar. Just by keeping those flags under pressure from one guy kept at least 4-5 of their guys busy. As infantry your job IS NOT to be running miles all over the place, it is to hold an area.
These maps are massive. That is true but if you adapt your play style to think about areas rather than "the map" you will do quite well..Like chess, every piece has a purpose. Sometimes the purpose doesn't become apparant straight away.
Having said that, I really don't think I'd enjoy BF3 anywhere near as much without our TS voice comms. I don't mean just the wicked squad play. I mean all the banter / rage / hilarious / useful tips that makes playing as part of a community great. We have such a wide range of guys on there is always something to keep you coming back....
That and MAV / C4 / EOD SQD on TS is hilarious...Nothing like seeing 6 MAV's + 2 EOD bot's steaming towards you on Seine....Sheer panic![]()
More than likely would, the question is though [as i haven't played AK] is there enough vehicles for 64v64?
Enter "player" in the server browser filter and join one player start servers to practice flying and learning maps.
Youtube is best for tutorials, there are so many combinations of guns, classes and attachments, spend 30 minutes (or 30 days) viewing videos.
