How far would you travel each day for work before relocating?

I could put up with an hour each way in the car, hour and a half if the money was good. Otherwise I'd be able to put up with a two hour train journey each way, provided it was agreed with the employer to start later and finish earlier. At least on the train you can get work done - if your job allows it.

Depends on the transport method. If I had to drive, I doubt I'd want to go for more than about forty minutes. But that's at least as much to do with fuel consumption. I'm happy to walk for half an hour, but that's close to tops. Train or similar I might be able to live with ninety minutes - but again, cost would be an issue.

an hour absolute max, and even then, only for an amazing job

how far that takes you is another matter. It's the time that's my concern tho

It would depend on the method of commute and how well it fitted together. I am not allowed to drive (for medical reasons) hence I'm limited to public transport, my old commute used to be about an hour door to door but was very stressful as it involved two trains with a stupidly short change between them and a very long wait if you missed it. My current commute is about 45mins door to door and involves walking, tram and train but the public transport aspects are frequent enough that if one part is late I have to normally only wait <10mins before I can grab the next service on the other.

I'd probably commute up to 1.5hrs if it was a straight single train commute if the service was reliable.

There is no way I would ever go back to the travelling times I thought acceptable as a younger man. If I cannot get to work in 30 minutes (dropping little one off at daycare not included) then I'm getting a new job or I'm working from home 2 days a week.

Takes me an hour in the morning to drive to work (50 miles), between an hour and an hour and a half to get home depending on traffic (M6 so...), its a good job but I reckon this time next year I will be on the lookout for a job in MCR city centre so I can stroll to work

Currently 13 miles from work and it's a 20 minute commute so I'm happy with that. Previous was 10 miles with a 30 minute commute. I really wouldn't want to go past a 30-45 minute commute although that's ok saying it now but if I needed the work I'd probably reconsider.

I start a new job in 2 weeks, my commute will drop from 55 mins each way to around 10-15 mins.

It has the added bonus of being 9-5 Monday to Friday as opposed to shifts that involved working some weekends. I look forward to the change! :D

I've done the full spectrum before, 1.5-2 hours each way on public transport (Haywards Heath to Enfield :(), 30 mins each way by car, now settled nicely on 7 mins each way by car. Not much money in my profession so it'll be a long time before I consider increasing my current commute!

Used to do 1 hour 45 minute commute each way, and did it for a couple of years. Then I moved so I guess the answer is less than 1 hour 45. i guess I never really minded the long commute when I was doing it, but now my commute is 30 minutes and I don't think I could go back to those days now.

I walk to the office every day (10 minutes), once you've had a period of doing that commuting any distance just seems a waste of time.

My average commute time is 40 mins (20 mile journey). On a good day it can take just 25 mins, on a bad day it can take up to 1.5hrs or maybe 2hrs.

It's not the distance or duration of the commute that bothers me, it's the idiotic drivers I come across that make my commute miserable. I'd quite happily drive 50 miles or 2 hours to work if I didn't have to stress from people cutting me up or slowing me down etc.

I'd never do over an hour, ever.

Anything more than half an hour drive and I'd have to seriously consider it.

Before I was made redundant, my commute was 5mins. Now I have to fly to work, I would take my current job over my old 5min commute job each and every time.

50 miles each way to Gatwick and back was probably my driving limit, into Knightsbridge on the train was my public transport limit. Best was 90 minutes door to door, worst was 6 hours.

I don't think I could ever rely upon the train again tbh. Work/life balance was seriously tested.

It sometimes takes me 2hrs to commute depending on where I go.

However, to head office which is where I'm based 50% of the time it takes me 1.5hrs.

So I lose 3hrs of my day commuting :( Not going to relocate as I'm looking for another job.
