Manchester Police Officer killed during arrest.

Don'r really give a **** tbh, it would be a pleasure to pull the lever/push the button/whatever for this ****.

Anyone who thinks he deserves rehab, education or another chance is living on another planet IMO.

Then pull the lever or push the button or whatever for him since you're hard as nails and can kill another human being easily while looking them in the eye and still believing you're somehow nothing like him.

In the eye.
*giggle*

Seriously though, why do people think it's such a hard thing to do?

In this case I would be all in favour of someone taking his other eye out, and then saying 'now enjoy prison you *******!'
No death sentence necessary.

I don`t think you can consider him a human being. A rabid dog more like. He gave up his humanity when he killed 4 people. He has no place in society.

All police need to carry at least a sidearm.... you need to be able to enforce the law in all situations, especially the dangerous ones that you just described.

but if von had had a gun in that situation it could have ended up with the kid dead and von's life shattered knowing he'd killed a poor lad just trying to comply.

It won't. There's no evidence to suggest that the death sentence acts as any kind of deterrent.

It would give the victims family a sense of closure though and may be the police who put their live's on the line to protect.

AH ofcourse the sidearm conundrum.
NO, this is not a nation of gun totting morons as the majority.

We don't the entire police force armed for something that they don't really require, if we had the same gun per square mile as the US have, then maybe it would be efficient.

But it isnt and guns cost a pretty penny, as well as the maintenance that has to be done on them, especially in an official role.

Plus frankly, when you give a police man a gun, you also give a potentially violent person access to it, if he is sufficiently trained to be able to steal it, or just cocky enough to pull the trigger in the holder.

If the guys who were supposed to catch this guy were doing a better job, perhaps these two innocent officers could have lived, I can only imagine that the current conditions of being a police officer at the moment is harsh at the best of times, so maybe they are just underfunded or the guy was knowledgeable enough to escape the law until he apparently walked into a station, which i find rather confusing, even with the obvious reason of not wanting to get shot himself.

Still somewhat remember the last time a major news incident where a policewoman was killed, simply tragic.

Very sad story :(

Its time to arm our police TBH. Give em Glocks or Sigs, its not like our country is getting any safer. Just insane that unarmed cops are patrolling our streets. And yes I know we have SWAT-like units but Im talking about the regular cops - give em 9mms for cryin out loud.

The next time some bozo fires at them they can unholster & unload on the loser.

Explain the contrast.

Really please.

I disagree. I'm yet to hear a convincing argument to routinely arm the police.

I think there might be an argument to do this in Birmingham, London or Manchester, but in Hampshire, I very rarely need to draw my baton or CS, let alone need a firearm. There simply isn't the need in my neck of the woods.

Its just sad to see situations like what happened today and that made me

Not saying use the sidearm it at any opportunity but just knowing its there - in case some idiot charges you with a blade or pulls a weapon.

I think too many times our cops face extreme danger and what do they have?..baton...Taser....

At the same time I acknowledge that even in the face or these risks many of our police do NOT want to carry sidearms.

Which is why in many ways..our cops are prob the bravest in the world to go charging about w/out sidearms.
