I can't really compare as I haven't really traveled very much, been to Sydney and a middle eastern country for a visit but that's really it.

So do we have a good deal here, it's not exactly 3rd world. Sometimes I think it's as good as you can get and other times I find it gloomy, depressing and a bit sinister. For for me, Australia would be my idea of currently the best place to live, nice weather, pleasant people, low crime, good economy, good natural resources and just generally more laid back, less hate and not so intense. But then Australia is out of the way and not involved in international relationships the way we are, especially between us, America and Europe so we have different pressures on us which have obviously shaped us.

Britain is one of the safest, richest, and most free countries in the world. You have rights and privileges in the UK that you will rarely find in other countries and opportunities that many others simply have no access to.

+1 We do have a good system in place. It works... Not always well but we get by.

Australia is not what it is cracked up to be or was. The cost of living has just shot up and unless you are in the sectors where that growth has occurred then you are priced out of a lot of stuff. They have just as many if not more gang problems than we do, with far more prejudice and quite a redneck attitude when you move out of the big cities and even in some of the big cities.

I've lived in the States which was great as a have but working in the medical profession I also saw enough of the havenots to know that there was a bigger spread of diversity there. I lived just outside Baltimore and in LA and both had significant problems - where I worked in Baltimore was in a downright nasty neighbourhood.

I think this country is very good. You get a variety of weather - I guess you can only appreciate that if you've lived in a consistently hot country. People are tolerant here, they are generally accepting and even when they aren't they have the decency to keep their opinions to themselves. The police don't carry guns, healthcare is free at the point of service, and although it is being undermined there is a safety net for every citizen to fall back upon. There is some stunning scenery here and real history.

Indeed. It's easy to get into moaning mode and I sure wouldn't want to live in Hull, but this is a great country to live in. Lots of opportunities and very connected to the world culturally and economically. Love Britain! :)

if we had months of sunshine and 4 of mild autumn, it would be better.

weather atm sucks. if there wasn't football on tonight, i'd contemplate being in bed for 8!

Uk is great , we just lack land and a few to many rules.

Very impressed with Australia and had far less anti social behavior and economy is solid with all their natural resources.

And I like certain American states due to lack of regulation and sheer land size. If you want to build your own house and live of a pittance, there's nothing stopping you, unlike uk.

That would be great, living out in the Prairies, living off the grid, pure bliss.

Can't really add much as I haven't really experienced the rest of the world...

I do love the UK though, and can't really see myself settling anywhere else.

This, but at the same time I can't help but want to try somewhere new. Desperately.

I can't see myself liking living anywhere else in the world, unless I was earning a lot more abroad.

We've got things pretty good
