The potential new US president

i hope your not using his mormon religion as an arguement against him, bit offensive that, got a mate who is mormon and is perfectly normal.

You understand what a laughable fraud that the Mormons is right
Don't get me wrong I think all religions are bogus but this and Scientology are so blatantly scams it's laughable! How anyone can take them seriously in this day and age is beyond me!

My signature a while back was in support of Mitt Romney. Now I only did that becauase at the time I knew there was a chance he would win and it really annoyed most people here, however since then he's made such a buffoon of himself that the joke was no longer funny because he really doesn't have a hope in hell of winning.

I'm loving Jon Stewart's stuff at the moment. It is slightly left leaning though which annoys me at times but tbh it's hard to be unbiased when the mistakes from the parties are very biased. Also they rip Fox to shreds which I greatly enjoy.

I think you must be confusing Mormonism with something else. It's a pretty standard religion and doesn't require any finance. A lot of the south and mid west are brought up as Mormons, it is a relatively new strain of Christianity though.

Yeah, he's an idiot. Although it looks like Obama is going to win, it will no doubt be depressingly close....as usual. The problem is that all the people who see themselves as Republican will vote for whoever leads the party. They could elect a washing machine as the presidential candidate and it would still get 40-45% of the vote - guaranteed. Same is true of the Democrats of course. So it comes down to the very small minority in the middle who are genuinely open to voting either way. Fortunately, I think Romney has made too many gaffs and put those undecided few into the Obama camp.

I wonder if the American public pay attention to Bill Maher, I know he probably lost a lot of friends in the USA with Religilous, and American comedy is a bit low brow etc, but he pretty much spot on every single time.

Thing is though it's the same in the UK. North vote Labour, South votes Tory. Nobody looks at policies, nobody looks at the candidates, people just vote for who their parents voted for. That's what happens when you give 'tards democracy though, they just vote for their favourite colour.

The only piece I read about him highlighted just how creepily uncaring he was about normal people, he's essentially a cold robot. I think that's all I needed to know about the man.

That's true to a large degree, I admit. It's much more exaggerated over here though. In Britain, I know my family went back and forth a bit between Conservatives/Labour. My experience here in the US is that almost everybody seems to be die-hard liberal or die-hard conservative. The polarization is a lot more extreme.

Campaigns are soo soo driven by media comments I wouldn't be surprised if they say ridiculous things just so the democratic biased shows hit them hard with them just so their fanatical supports get angry and throw more money at the republicans. Both parties don't give a crap, they get paid a crapload just to be in government and campaigning, the money and power is in lobbying, getting bills through of blocking them, doesn't really matter if you're in charge or not.

Being around to have your vote bought is all that really matters, hell, would probably be better to lose but still win your home state, can still vote, can still have companies wine and dine you but none of that nasty responsibility for starting or stopping wars :p

I don't think there are many genuinely good or decent or intelligent politicians worldwide, certainly not in the states or here :(

If Romney gets into power I will be quite worried for the rest of us.

You would think someone so No disguised swearing please stupid would never get into office. But then the American's voted in George W....... TWICE

We are all doomed.

Worst thing is, Obama actually has half a brain and has what it takes to run such a powerful nation.

This is what I despise about Romney - he has absolutely no empathy for other human beings. He's Nixon II.
