If youre not body building then a healthy balanced diet is always better for you than relying on heath supplements. Simple as that.
Protein shakes are Whey protein, whey is the main ingredient and in most cases bar some flavouring the Only ingredient.

Also you honestly think that body building is the only sport that benefits from supplementation of Whey in your diet? You really should look up the multiple uses in many sports, no to mention other uses. It's also easily part of a healthy balanced diet as it is 100% healthy.
