Biggest disappointment of all time?

Saints Row 2 and 3. I remember the first one being pretty good (although it's fair to say the novelty of having a GTA-esque game on a 'next-gen' console played a good part in that), but 2 and 3 were rather awful games overall. I expected 3 to fix a lot of the issues, unfortunately it didn't. The vehicle handling was atrocious, visually it wasn't particularly appealing, the controls felt too rigid and the missions basically boiled down to "go here and do this mini game".

Mass Effect 3 was something of a disappointment too. I'd completed ME2 not long before starting ME3, and it was rather obvious that the sequel had been dumbed-down to appeal to a larger audience, and combat was of greater importance than exploration.

Its more of a genre thing than a game, but , any game that has a poorly implemented stealth element inserted at random. I love stealth games and would rather play in that style, but poor implementation just makes me sad.

I can get on board with the GTA4 comments too. Looks fantastic, I just felt it went way too serious. GTA3 vice city is still my favourite. I love the scarface feel to the game

Vice city was awesome- Miami vice meets scarface.

San Andreas- boys in tha hood and every stereotypical American black gangster film all rolled into one, again a comic and original slant with loads of things to do.

Gta4 is best left untalked about tbh. Can't help but feel they'll try a triad/yakuza main character that will flop. Need to take it back to scicillians again

Resident Evil 5 - The franchise has been dried out and repeatedly abused since RE4 especially the new release RE6.

Black Ops - Just couldn't get into it, didn't feel like a Call of Duty game.

Far Cry 2 - Really didn't enjoy the constant barrage of enemies, which returned as soon as you walked around the corner.

UT3/UT2007 - It lost it's competitiveness and skilfulness and generally felt clumsy.

i found netal gear solid 2 great personally .on ps2 .. still not got aroundf ot the hd remakes yet enev i own them .....

but i still remember keeping my finger on triangle to sit thougth what i'm sure was 40 mins of talking ... on speed skip

Resident Evil 4 - Came out to universal acclaim, I hated it. Controls and game mechanics were already dated, even back then. Seems most people level these criticisms @ 5/6 but I distinctly remember feeling this way about #4.

It was great on GameCube!

You mean a Triad main character like in Chinatown Wars which according to Metacritic is actually the highest rated game on the Nintendo DS and the second highest on the PSP?

Had it on GameCube. Hated having to stop still to line up a shot, not being able to strife/sidestep & quick time events sucked balls. Tbh the clunky controls just didn't sit well as the series transitioned into more of a third person action shooter. Most of the complaints that people level at 5 & 6 I had with 4.

Loved the Resident Evil remake mind you.

Jet set willy 2, it was advertised in a magizine by the devolper sowfware projects as coming soon with a phone number to order now. Pesterd my mum for it, after six months of excitment and waiting, phone calls by my mum to find out what was happening it was cancelled never released.

Streer fighter the movie on Saturn with 'digitized characters - kylie as cammy and van damme as guile' sucked. Worst street fighter ever, imo worst game ever.

True Crime: Streets of L.A.

Hot of the heels of GTAIII and GTA: Vice City. I thought True Crime was going to be every bit as good as GTA but set in huge, photo realistic model of Los Angeles. I was so excited. Every time my older brother would bring home a videogame magazine, I'd scour through it in the hope there'd be a new screenshot or a preview article. My anticipation built and built until it was released. Then I played it... clunky controls, awful physics, repetitive missions, a mind numbingly poor plot and, worst of all, a vast, lifeless expanse of a map. The fun of GTA wasn't there, the humour (what little there was of it) paled in comparison. It was the first game I resented, the first game I wasted money buying.

I do have a few fond memories of it though. It has a soft spot in my gaming memory... playing for hours on end while my parents were at Toys'r'us, buying Christmas presents for me and my siblings. Of course, frisking some old dear and confiscating an AK 47 of her was always fun. But, I'll always remember it for being the first big let down of my gaming life.

[EDIT] On second thoughts, I'd say CoD ELITE... what a (expletives that'd make a sailor blush) waste of money. So many of the maps are just plain awful!... too big and campy. And, when a smaller map is released, a map that might, just might emulated some of the fun of Firing Range... it's 3v3 only. Every time a piece of MW3 shi- I mean DLC is released, I can hear Activision laughing at me from atop their mountain of money. They only thing that cheers me up are the memories of the Christmas noobs. Oh, how I defecated on them from a great height.
