What's currently the best deal for an unbranded sim free?

O2 on contract, but chuck away the contract sim, then after a month just buy out the contract.

£200 handset
£10.50 x 24 (It's actually £13.50 but cancel the data bolt on which is £3)

£50 cashback via quidco
Total: £402

I purchased my original Note and S3 this way. It works. Just speak to an advisor online via the site first to confirm you can cancel the data bolt on, but I've never had an issue with it.

I currently do this with my Galaxy Nexus, then I slap in my t-mobile sim only which I've had for 3 years and I am currently getting 1000 mins, unltd texts, unlimited net for £10 ish. Works out a treat for me :D!

Where's that £13.50 tariff? All I can find on the O2 site is £16.50

Makes sense. I was checking the o2 site myself before ordering but they have only just got the Note II on there now. You get the choice of paying it all off in a month, or you can pay it off slowly with no interest, AND the handset price works out cheaper then anywhere else.

My giffgaff number has now been transferred over to T-Mobile, at last!

Change the internet to 100mb, 24 months.

EDIT: It's a rubbish tariff: 50 mins, 250 texts, 100mb, and you need to cancel the 100mb data which you can do as soon as you receive the handset or even before you receive it, but you aren't buying it to use the sim, put your own sim in and off you go. :)

Just in case you have any doubts...

Welcome to O2 live chat. Someone will start chatting with you soon.

You're through to Oli.

Oli: Hi there. My name's Oli I am an O2 Sales advisor, how can I help you today?

Adz: hi mate, if I order the note 2

Adz: with the lowest internet bolt on - 100MB

Adz: can I cancel the internet bolt on once I receive the handset since I wont be using it?

Oli: I'll be happy to help you with that.

Oli: Yes, you can remove or Add data bolt on anytime during your contract.

Adz: I've seen the contract for - £200 handset

Adz: and £13.50 a month

Adz: How much would it reduce my monthly bill by if i remove the 100mb internet bolt on

Oli: Yes, we have the deal for £13.50 and if you remove the data bolt on then the deal will be of £10.50.

Adz: Thanks

Samsung official flip case arrived today, think I'll be sending it back. Looks fantastic when it's closed, and the integration directly into the back cover is great (gives you a spare cover too obviously). However, it doesn't close shut by anything other than the tension of the hinge which isn't enough (needs to be magnetic). It doesn't fold back to make a stand (some sort of 3 hinge thing ala iPad would have been useful - Christ everyone's copying everyone else already if it's a good idea rip it off!), and most importantly, it makes using the phone uncomfortable. Because the hinge goes in at the back you can't get your fingers (if right handed) wrapped around the edge, so you have to fold it back on itself to lay flat with the back, which just gives you the sharp edge of the cover rather than the nice smooth rounded edge of the phone, also not a good solution.

All in all, aesthetically (when closed) very, very pleasing and looks pretty much perfect. Functionally, it fails.

Haha nice one :D but are the handsets unlocked already?

My Note and S3 were, so yeah, most probably. If it's locked to O2, can't you just ring them and ask for it to be unlocked for a small fee?

I'm not sure how unlocking phones works when you go directly to the networks but my cousin who recently purchased a locked S3 brought it over to me, I rooted it and unlocked it within 5 minutes. Just took me a few minutes googling to find how to do it.

I am still hanging on till I find out what the EE tariffs will be, no point having the lte note if its going to be a premium on top of 3g contract, especially when I am not in a 4g designated city, I will only get to use it whilst travelling.
If its going to be a premium price I will stick with o2 and go for the note 2 3g with them.
if its going to be minimal mark up then i will pay for the future proofing and get the lte with t-mobile/ee.

ooops--forgot to mention the link ..good read

It certainly is...

I also hope that they don't go for too large a premium with LTE - given their lead over the rivals it seems logical to target a long-term increase in customer base rather than short-term gains. But what do I know? :p

so can you just go in store for this?

I just want to buy a unlocked sim free 4G LTE version as I travel abroad extensively and wont need a contract.

Any news on availability or release of these ??

not sure you will get one unlocked as i think they will come tied to the networks providing 4G/LTE

but no one really knows yet

I placed an upgrade order on vodafones website for a note 2 handset for free at £47 a month for unlimited minutes, unlimited text and 2GB of data. After seeing some of the deals in this thread I canceled the order and phoned Vodafone to see if they would do a better deal. Without even asking I was immediately offered the note 2 for free @ £35.70 a month with unlimited minutes, unlimited text and 2GB of data, the phone is in stock and getting delivered tomorrow

Just decided to buy one now and let the LTE thing work itself out ;)

So whats the best price and where to get one unlocked and sim free ?

Cheers guys :D
