You can buy a drink holder to go where the cradle was. Don't know the part number but it was around £30 when I bought it for mine 2 years ago.

I'm sure I've seen that very car or another manual E60 V8 in that colour on PH before. I think it was a dealers show car and it had the most random options ticked by them or BMW UK and it sat for sale for a long long time :p
It's not random options really. It's just got a very good spec and then the individual trim.

I'm now scared that you're having to run very high pressures in your tyres to not make the car feel unstable!

I can appreciate that you might have to put more pressure in than on the runflats but running at those pressures aren't they going to wear out very quickly. I'm want to get away from running runflats as they're so hard, replacing them with normal tyres but running them at very high pressures seems to be a bit odd.

I just don't want to spend £800 on tyres that I'm going to regret buying ;)

I double checked my tyre pressures from stone cold, and they are only at 36 and 41psi which is pretty much recommended pressure for runflats! The tyres were a bit warm when i inflated them or the machine at the petrol station may have been iffy.

It surprised me though, because at normal pressures, they feel almost as hard as my runflats! That said, my runflats never used to feel *that* hard and certainly less hard than others with runflats. This doesn't bother me though, because they feel like they have every bit of feedback that the runflats did (which i didn't think any non runflat would be able to give!) and they give fantastic cornering whilst remaining composed and grippy all the way.

From my recent query to BMW Warranty ...

Thank you for your online enquiry dated October 11, 2012, with regard to the validity of your vehicles warranty, should you change the Run-flat tyres to standard ones.

All of our vehicles that use Run-flat technology have their suspension and braking components set up to accommodate Run-flat tyres. Should you decide to change to non Run-flats, it may alter the driving and handling characteristics of your vehicle. It is for this reason that this modification is not recommended by BMW as a manufacturer.

It is possible to have standard tyres fitted. You will additionally need to purchase either a spare wheel with jack and brace set or a mobility kit which can be ordered from the Parts Department of your nearest BMW Approved Dealership. The only way this would impact on your BMW UK Warranty is if any fault was caused by the change in tyre.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries.

From my recent query to BMW Warranty ...

A decent and sensible response from the warranty company there. This is the same thing as what they told me about my milltek exhaust, even though in their T&C's it says, words of the effect of, "any modifications will render the warranty invalid".

I'm glad to see their actually using their brain when it comes to stuff like this and not just being robots.

Need 2 new rear tyres in 255/35/R18 - have to be Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 to match the fronts.

Cheapest i can find fitted is Tyreshopper which is £383 fitted with a 6% quidco = £360.02

Cheapest i can find delivered is £332.78 with fitting @ £30 - £362.78

Anyone know of any better online retailers, Goodyear deals etc?. I managed to get a stonking deal in December of last year for all four @ tyreshopper for £518.31 however they were cheaper then and they did make a small mistake with the VAT which they honoured :D

BMW have just emailed £139 for an oil service without microfilters, what's the context of the microfilters, what do they do and do they need changing?

I recently got 2 x 255/35/18 Goodyear F1A2's for £306 inc del.

Lovetyres.com

Buy them now, thank me later.

EDIT: Or not. They are now £174 and are out of stock. They were £149.99 before :(

The microfilters are the filters for the airconditioning system. There are two on your 5 Series and they cost about 10-15 quid a pair from Eurocarparts. Changing them takes about 40 seconds. If they are happy to do it without microfilters then take them up on it, it was always a pointlessly expensive addition to a service.

Is this for the E39 or the E60? With the E60 IIRC Microfilters are seperate to the oil service, with the E39 they were always included so it was a useful way of dropping the price if you could get them left out.

E60 got about 1500 miles till oil service due but going Gatwick > Cirencester Friday so that'll eat into it so may as well book it in for the week after.
