To cut a long story short im fed up with our bthomehub v2.0. I cannot turn the wifi off, when it is on my daughters netbook flips out and the ping/lag is terrible on my sons's ps3.

So

Jumped onto ocuk's webshop and found this:

Asus DSL-N55U Black Diamond Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-051-AS

Just watched a youtube review of it, seems to do well.
Has anyone here bought one, is it good? im hovering over the order button...

I like tweaking things so being able to mess with the SNRM sounds good.

Also the PS3 is on the wifi, cant get around this unless I get a wired connection into the boy's room. The missus will go nuts as the wire will have to get past 3 or 4 solid walls and would mean pulling up carpets aswell. I was thinking about powerline adaptors... would this good or bad idea?

It's a good device now that Asus have improved the FW (latest is x.188 I think). The next update will bring AiCloud to it as well (like the RT-N66U and AC66U).

They've very recently had awesome new firmware, so ignore all reviews. It's a great router. I have one

I bought this router about 4 months ago, the firmware it came with was awful and I was getting really low sync speeds. Asus released a beta firmware that when tweaked fixed all my problems.

The web interface is pretty nice and the wireless broadcasts at 2.5ghz and 5ghz

Well I did it guys! I hit the order button. Just have to wait for the courier now. Oh and gut out the homehub and try to squeeze in the new one lol.
The TV Stand is getting a bit crowded.

I'm still contemplating buying one myself! Really want to get rid of my very aged Netgear DG834GT router/modem.

First thing, update the firmware (annex a = uk), then hold the reset button on the back to fully blank the settings. It's more thorough than the software reset.

I had one of those before I got a Linksys x3000, which I then returned for the Asus DSL-55U. Annoying thing is after all the hassle I had with Linksys I've now just signed up to Virgin :-/

Well for the short time you've had the Asus DSL-N55U what has it been like?

It is Broadcom based, and works great on a Zen connection, which I see you've got :-)

The sync speeds I found were slightly up on my Netgear D834G, but it was pretty much maxed anyway !

I need something to replace my DGN2200. Its been great but the wireless is acting up and I'd like to get something with Dual Band.

I think I'll avoid Netgears latest line ups. The DGN3700 has a load of complaints against it from bad range to dropping the wireless altogether. And some dodgy firmware. I know I can't fully update my DGN2200 to its latest firmware due to an issue where all 360s will have moderate NAT with no way to change it.

So would this be a decent replacement?
