X-Factor 2012

I think James is very very good, though very depressing. Even when he smiles he looks sad and depressed.
Is there any more space for yet another boyband...maybe. If One Direction (who IMO are terrible) have made it big, why couldnt another boyband?

I'm pretty damn sure the XF producers have told him to milk the angst-spiel for all it is worth at all time... his mother has publically admitted that his "my family is completely broken and I had to seep rough" story was very exaggerrated. Don't get me wrong, I understand why he does it, he has the chance to change his life and make a fortune, but I wouldn't take it as gospel.

If you listen to the songs on his bands website then you will see a completely different side... the music is upbeat and he sings that way too, and sounds rlatively cheery during the comments he makes on the tracks http://www.jamesarthurband.com/

I bought the album the other day (it's only 6EUR) and really like it, and i'll continue to buy his stuff in future providing he doesn't do anything daft with his music.

Lucy only seems to b-able to churn out the same type of song over and over
I agree. For me, Lucy is this year's Cher Lloyd. Only with a guitar. She's not great to look at and raps/rhymes (whatever) with singing mixed in along the way. Also some elements of attitude surfacing. I just find it really annoying. It's like the musical equivalent to those big dance acts you see on BGT (Diversity or something?). IMO pointless but everyone seems to love it. Probably says something about me. Miserable old git that I am. :o

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Kate Nash. Only Nash is so much better.

We said this, Kate Nash mixed with Lilly Allen, just much much worse.

Sorry, but what a load of twoddle. James isn't creative? Did you see his versions of Tulisas Young and mary J Bliges No More Pain? Great interpretations, and better than the originals. No talent to survive in the real world? Another nonsense comment considering he is certain to get a record deal whether he wins or not.

And no, im not being argumentative for the sake of it, I just genuinely think he has an amazing voice and bags of talent.

I guess we will see in a years time, I'm ready to eat my words but I don't think I will be, He will be very much forgotten in a year like most of the x-factor lot.

I bet you a virtual fiver he will be more famous than he is now. *spits on hand*

As far as I know this has always happened.
You have to ask why these acts are always interviewed outside while queuing - they can't interview all 10,000 +.

i often wondered that but didn't make the connection they may have been invited.

how are they sourced/scouted?

To be fair it's not an obvious conclusion to make, Dimple obviously read about it beforehand.

It is 100% obvious but I'm not saying they are the invited ones from outside sources.
The outside team look for quirky characters in the queue and then tell the Producers about who they have filmed and out of 100 queue interviews they may whittle it down to 10 who we get to see with their sob story.
Years ago I was in Fuerteventura talking to a singer out of a band from Manchester who had been seen by one of the team while gigging and he was invited on.
One of the girls on Australian Factor was asked why she had come along and she said she'd been seen the night before busking and was invited on.

Well of course they look for quirky characters to interview in the queue (I don't think that needs clarifying somehow), I was only talking about invited to the contest, and I think most others presumed you were too...

Meh, to me despite what the producers say there is a difference between someone being invited, and someone going on of their own free will. And I think anyone that's been invited is clearly going to be favoured to some degree, as before the audition they have already been scouted and marked as good enough. Also, BS the judges didn't know imo.

Now I think about it, I imagine they've been doing it for years.

Jahmene Douglas and the duo MK1 are the only acts to admit to Newsbeat that they were approached.

Interesting, so does this mean that MK1's story was already mapped out getting rid of the spare part?

I'd fine it miraculous i they were scouted without knowing that the other guy was as cool as the Gobi Desert. In fact I have no idea how the even functioned as a band with that guy around, he was such a complete goon... so much so that im very suspicious if he was a part of any performance.

I think the 3rd member of MK1, was the guy behind the scenes. He was the song writer, producer and the guy who brought them all together. The 2 people who appeared on the show are the guys who do the performing.

Now, if they would've won XFactor, the record company would hook the performers up with professional song writers and producers, thus negating the need for their existing producer (ie. the 3rd member).

I'm wondering if they may well get back together again and continue as a 3-piece.

Nope, I take it you didn't watch the auditions then.

I did.

IIRC, they stated in the auditions that he was the producer, while the girl was the singer and the black dude was the rapper.

...unless I've got my wires crossed.

They have videos on youtube from pre-X-Factor with him gooning it up in the background :D
