UEFA Champions League/Europa League 23/24/25 October *** Spoilers ***

Barcelona are a joke this season it is just mind boggling why they do nothing about their defence at all. Takes 93 mins for them to get a draw against Celtic, Celtic at the Nou Camp! They are not even in the same universe player for player how does this happen.
Serious questions need to be asked about their lack of buying when it comes to something other than a midfielder they want to convert.

Huh?

What do you expect when everyone bar Alba in the defense is out injured?

Alves, Pique & Puyol.

Take away Rio, Vidic & Evra from United's defense and look how average that defense is. It's the same with every other team, take away three major players in the defense and you'll concede goals.

I think the easy solution to Manchester United problems is to make Tom84 Manager with NickG his Assistant Manager.

Also; Celtic defended well in the first half, as well as I've seen a team defend against Barcelona for a while. Really well played.

Second half, looked shattered and the pressure was getting higher and higher, that goal was always coming.

Scott Brown was terrible :o

No idea how we leave Hernandez and Cleverley out of the Chelsea game now, but we certainly cant leave Rooney and RVP out nor will we get anywhere near the best out of Rooney playing him wide like we did second half tonight, not sure sticking Cleverley out on the right will get the best out of him either despite his Beckham like crosses of late

wtf are you on about now? Who's said we have problems?

First off, Barcelona won that game.

Secondly, any team would be find it difficult to cope without their first choice (whom happen to all be world class) centre back pair and right back.

Barcelona win games because they control games, they do this by keeping posession, it's only when the other team has the ball that their defending is called in to question. Thankfully they keep the ball pretty well and they usually keep it better when Alves, Puyol and Pique are in the side.

Rubbish, throw away comment.

Next people will say Barcelona lack a plan 'B'.

I think Cleverley has to play, he's our best midfielder at the moment. There's so much more energy when he's in the lineup than when it's just Carrick and Scholes.

Hernandez I'd rather see on the bench I think, would be nice to have him as an option but starting with 3 strikers might be too much.

Plan B = Giving away possession ;)

Last season we didn't win a single game (in the league at least) from behind, this year we've done it 8 times. This is not really a positive stat when you go behind in every single game, however.

I think you could flip that and say while it highlights the poor starts to the game, it also highlights the determination and quality that Manchester United posess.

Pique is world class? In so much as he plays for an international team, so did Heskey.

Pique played most of last season and was as fallable as Mascherano, infact more so, he's a mistake machine. Alves defensively has actually improved in the past year and even dives a lot less than he had for the 3-4 years before that, but defensively he's not really world class. Puyol has also missed far more than he's played in the past few seasons, he's aging but with some very bad luck with injuries and the age is more a factor in recovery/reinjury than his ability at all. Fantastic CB but he's been barely available for long enough that they should have bought a top notch replacement, not doing so is entirely their fault and a massive mistake, if Song is his replacement........ lololololololol.

Was it 30mil or so on Mascherano, despite having Biscuits(did they buy him before Yaya left, I can't remember), Song for £16 mil was it, mental. If Puyol got injured a couple games ago but was a ever present before that would be something else and basically unavoidable, when he's been missing so much for so long, not replacing him is a huge mistake.

Either way, Barca's two worst performances have come in the games they've rested Cesc.... coincidence.... nope.
