Windows 8 who's buying/upgrading

I did an upgrade at first, but wasn't happy with the mix of old and new settings so used the reset feature and it works really well, it's like a brand new install.

One thing I'm wondering though, I thought the GTX 600 series were supposed to be DX 11.1?

I did try that in Windows 8 Preview and it failed to reset, not sure if it will work proper in Windows 8 Pro ?
 
Can anyone assist?

I cant find the option to purchase and download a copy, only gives me the £49.99 option is that right or am I being dense?

So far I have found one site selling it as retail upgrade and another saying stay tuned for it coming ???
 
Guys don't forget to use Disk Cleanup ,I got over 20GB back from removing my old Windows stuff via Disk Cleanup ie upgrade from 7 to 8.

I did a completely fresh install on a new drive using the downloaded ISO on a usb stick and the serial you get when you buy.

All worked fine it has activated fine and updates without issues.

Is there a way I can make it remember my password and auto login at start ?
 
just downloading mine now on my tablet..

anyone know if there are any more apps then the preview ones in the store? don't suppose Microsoft slipped pop3 mail access into their app?
 
Where are you downloading from? when i go onto MS site and see the Windows 8 link for £24.99, i click it and its says :

The new Windows...coming soon?
 
Yes plenty more apps than preview.

No, no pop3 and there won't be. What email service do you use. Most have imap.

If not login to outlook.com and add it to your Hotmail/outlook email.

I presume it's an upgrade it never mentions it being an upgrade though just Win 8 pro ?

It worked fine only had this SSD connected it auto activated when windows started and then has updated etc all ok.

I did a reset, worked fine. Just be careful, if you don't read things properly and choose the correct option, it will wipe every single hard drive on your system.

Back on Windows Vista now and my Windows 8 USB drive is being prepared. Shame, I've forgotten how lovely Vista looked with its black transparency on the start menu and taskbar. Shame that 8 is just boring and bland. Does anyone know if Aero can be brought back somehow? LOL.

The only worry I have now is that I'm upgrading from Vista Business 32-bit so I hope it installs the 64-bit version of Windows 8 when I start setup momentarily.
