Windows 8 isn't available for download
Sorry, Windows 8 isn't available for online purchase in the country/region that you're in.
I'm getting this message on the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant:
I'm impatient.![]()
Reading the last few pages, everything about this launch sounds a complete headache. Or.... it's between different peoples experiences. At least with Apple it's one OS, no confusion and it's all 64bit. No 32bit version only, oh and you have to buy the disc for 64bit. No N version or another version.
Microsoft still does my head in. They make things difficult when it does not need to be.
It was so simple back in the XP days, Home or Pro versions. 32bit or 64bit or both supplied. The end. None of this, oh sorry 32bit is download only.
Why can't they have an all in one download and specific keys triggers the version you bought.
really?? activated?
The product key will work with both 32-bit and 64-bit.Well I've been royally shafted. My £25 product key is tied in to a 32-bit version of Windows 8 when I wanted to run a 64-bit version. Looks like I'm going to be going back to the 20th century.![]()

did it ask for your key from previous version?
The product key will work with both 32-bit and 64-bit.
in control panel > systemI entered the serial on the install and it activated itself at some point as when I check it says windows is activated ?
No problems with updates or anything else either its all running very nice.
in control panel > system
check its 64bit
Completely thicko question, but where does it download the actual windows 8 install files to ?
I've gone through the compatibility wizard tool, purchased and it downloaded but didn't ask, or tell me where the files will go, and I can't find themThen once it finished downloading I chose 'I'll install later' but have no idea how to find the files or kick the install off now

Can someone just clarify the size of the TMP file in the directory
C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebSetup\Download
for the 64-bit version?
