There isn't a retail version of 8 and the new oem does allow you to install on different hardware, so long as it's only installed on one device at a time, so I'd imagine the upgrade would too.
Thanks, thenewoc
I wasnt aware that Win8 could be installed on different hardware.
Mine is still downloading, but I'm going to create the iso and then a bootable usb. If something goes wrong you have the install media to retry that way.
Could people who have successfully downloaded and installed, post hash codes for their ISO.

Stupid Origin wants me to activate my installed and registered games with the cd keys after upgrading. I have no idea where the keys are anymore. Stupid that you have to re-activate games tied to your account..
I hate EA...
I didnt get this problem but the keys are stored on your Origin account. Right click on the game to view key or something like that.
How come some of you guys are able to activate your Windows 8 Pro when doing a fresh install on a blank drive?
I tried it first time around and when I tried to activate it didn't have a product key inserted even though I typed it at the beginning of the install and when I typed it in during activation it said the product key was good to go but then a message box came up saying it can't activate because I needed to upgrade from inside Windows 7.
I bought the £14.99 upgrade. Maybe the £24.99 upgrade doesn't have this restriction?
That's good to know!Mine was the £14.99 upgrade. Created a USB boot drive and installed on a fresh formatted SSD with no other drives installed and all was ok. Windows activated itself as part of the setup.
its the potential of having to do 2 installs in the future that mean i dont want to go for this upgrade option.
I registered for the Windows 8 Upgrade Offer for £14.99, can I use the upgrade on my main PC instead of the laptop I bought? Or will the upgrade only work on the laptop I have registered for the code?
Do I have to install the Windows 8 upgrade on the eligible PC, or can I install it on another PC?
The upgrade offer is tied to a Windows 7 PC purchased between 2 June 2012 and 31 January 2013, but you can choose to redeem the offer and install the upgrade on any compatible Windows-based PC with a qualifying base operating system.
