I just read on another forum that the upgrade process works fine on no so legit versions of Windows 7. This could be the perfect opportunity to get legit OS for some

Can anyone get the Xbox Music app to display album art for everything? It's baffling me at the moment as it's found all my tracks but album art? Nope!

Ok I bite, got my copy from MSDNAA, downloaded and burnt to disk. Am going to install it on a seperate partition on my laptop instead of my desktop though, I love the way my desktop is set out...

Laptop is just there to take to uni :p.

I didn't even have an old windows on mine when I did it and it worked. Tbh I doubt MS care too much as long as your paying the £15 and they can get as much Win 8 spread about as possible. They will try and make the money from Apps and other things they can charge for.

did what? upgrade using pro from a cough cough OS?

I know this might sound controversial but after doing a lot of testing tonight I don't even think Microsoft are checking of certain details are genuine..

But hey big clap for Microsoft... one way to prevent piracy is to actually sell a product at a reasonable price then people will not have reason to pirate.

Or the way they choose... make it so poor no one wants to pirate it.

I wish to use my icc profile for my monitor I used for my previous os I used to go to start menu and type colorm.... e.t.c but I can not seem to find on windows 8.

Thanks jay.

Sorry if this is a silly question. I understand that when you start the upgrade it asks if you want to keep existing apps, settings and personal files, or personal files only, or nothing.

If you select nothing does it format and carry out a clean install, or does it still do an upgrade and just delete stuff?

I would just burn the iso and go again I first installed on top of a clean windows 7 install but still had a old windows directory but I must admit I can not remember which of the above I chosen :D

Ah thanks. I thought I'd have to run it from within Win7 as it was the upgrade, but if I can wipe and install normally then all the better.

I'm loving this so far.

The apps are clearly designed for tablets/phones but I can't see anything in there that you couldn't do with a 'proper' application anyway.

Got Metro mapped out how I want it, works nicely IMO, the search is improved too.

Just a couple of buttons on my Logitech G300 don't work but I suspect they will update the drivers at some point in the near future.
