You're not going to damage the shifter and you should change the chain when you get a new cassette anyway. I don't see a problem.

Thanks.

II put a new chain on too  I suppose it'll run a bit rough. But as long as I don't destroy anything, I can use them as spares for my 8 speed, when my 9 speed stuff is delivered!

Did a trail calld the 'Blawith Loop' today up in the lakes, first time riding using a map and some instructions. Only got a little lost once which wasn't to bad.
Had a really good downhill bit in it which was fun as all the puddles on the way down were frozen and there was a lot of loose rocks. Struggled a bit with the thick mud as the mud didn't seem to leave my tyres until i hit some road.

I responded when you first posted.
No the unit is nice and small, easy small and light enough to helmet mount as well.

Not my pic but you get the idea.
*snip*

That light is not small, these are small!

ichyballs, how do you find the weight of the batty on the back of the helmet? does it balance ok with the lights up front?

Those 5.10 Barrons look good. they have the Stealth soles so no probs with stickyness. what type of riding you do?

edit: havent used the barrons myself but have a pair of 5.10 monster shoes. awesome!

Don't even notice them on there to be honest, although my helmet is a snug fit and so does not move about much at all.

Fitted the Superstar plasma chain guide, nano through pedals and e thirteen g ring yesterday. Also fitted my old Superstar wheels which are surprisingly lighter than the DT swiss AM1800 that were on before. Had to use a medium spacer on the drive side part of the bottom bracket as the inner chain ring lugs were catching the guide plate and I'm not defacing an XT crank for a superstar guide!

Will take a look at them, they'll be used for all riding types really, road/trail centre stuff / off road natural stuff. I do have shimano spd#s but i took these off when i forgot my shoes one time so i brought some £14 wellego flats and been using my nike airs since, found i tended to commit a little more when rding

My Xt cranks catched so the bike shop filled of the tabs from the small ring, just means i cannot go back to 3 ring setup which i wont anyway :)
Does the colour on the ring wear off quite quickly ? If not might grab one to replace my black one

first outing on the hope M4's today.

the front brake difference is immense the rear just locks up instantly will need to adjust that.

very happy with performance of them.

Hit up Stiniog again yesterday, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Another awesome day, weather was dry with clear skies but it was very cold and very windy.

Photographer caught me a few times;

It was tough going with the broken pinky, hurt like hell in the rocky sections. I ended up riding single speed cos I snapped my gear cable on my first run going off the cliff drop. Managed to tighten my wheel up myself and the rear tyre was fine with a DH tube in there.

Can't wait to get back there, hopefully next time with a fully healed finger. :D
