Show us your kitty cats

Kenji joined me in the bath the other day, twice. XD He didn't stay long, not sure if he enjoyed it.

Dexter has done this twice now. Both times have ended up with him flapping around trying to get out, I find it quite amusing. Ralph just dips his feet in and cleans himself.

Cracking video :D

Gotta pop Lola back to the vets tomorrow. One of the internal stitches from when she was spayed has worked its way to the surface, and she has a teeny bit of thread poking out of her skin. It's not annoying her at all. I can feel it when I stroke her though. Thought it might be a last tiny bit of scab, but managed to get a look at it in proper light just now, and its definitely a bit of thread.

I rang the vets, and they said that it would be best to pop her in, and try and get one of the nurses to trim it, so it doesnt get caught on anything etc.

I'm also leaving them overnight for the first time this weekend, my brother and his girfriend are coming to stay. I've written them an "info sheet" which stretches to a side and a half of A4 :p

Number one was "Don't leave the shower door open, or Dave will take a dump" :D

ROFL at that cat and water video :D

Tc likes to dip his paws in to the running water from the tap and seems fascinated by it, Sprite stays well away from it but likes to watch running Tap water in the bath

you do know purina owns most of those? I looked into it after they mentioned it on dragons den about buying small companies and keeping the brands separate so people feel their pets are getting something special when they arent.

I remember them mentioning that but didn't hear the reference to Purina specifically. At the end of the day they still need to be truthfal about what the food contains.

Most of those I mentioned still do a much better product than the majority of commercial cat foods.

7 months and 4kgs

Well at that age I'd say more than 250g would be sufficient. Maybe around 350g?

How many times a day do you feed him and what are his portion sizes?

Just noticed now, that Snoopy has been in a fight.

The BF nipped out before and said that there were 2 cats fighting in the front gardens (we are the end house in a row of terrace houses) but he couldn't see the cats themselves.

I stuck my head out and all was quiet. Snoopy came in the back door about 10 mins later and went straight upstairs - didn't think anything of it at the time. This was at about 5.30pm.

Just been up stairs now to change our bed and Snoopy was lying on it. I stroked her for a bit, but there was no purring or friendly meow like normal...she moved off the bed and I noticed she was limping on her back left side.

On closer inspection she has part of a nail/claw in her head and the fir on her right back side/ flank is matted...she doesn't want to be touched...and guys...she refused Dreamies  :(

What can I do!? She is walking with a slight limp, but she grumbled when she had to jump up on to the living room chair, which is where she is now.

How the hell am I going to get this claw out of her head?!? She wont let me near her to put flea treatment on her - I have to sneak that on her when she is eating

Do you think she needs to go to the vets?!?

My baby is hurting and I don't know what to do :( :( :(

Another victim of cat roam culture.

Take her to the vets, shouldn't need to go to an emergency one unless you think it's going to get infected.

Any more and he just wastes it.

90g in the morning, 70g at 5pm, and 90g at bed time, along with some Smilla Toothies at each meal.

Kitten help...

Hey Guys,

Always followed this thread as I have wanted a kitten for a while, finally the Mrs and I decided on getting one and here she is (photo from over a month ago now)... Let me introduce Peanut.

However wondering if I can get some advice on food and also some things that have been a bit odd/worrying.

She has been wormed etc... however she seems to sometimes bleed when having a poop, we checked with the vet and he said its normal in kittens sometimes, he checked her out and said nothing was wrong with her and to possibly look at giving her some wet food in the evenings maybe. We tried this and hasn't really made any difference to her, I am not sure if we should look at other brands, any recommendations welcome.

Currently using Science Plan (the vets recommended, however they sell it so obvious they would).

The other thing isn't a huge problem but recently she has been wanting to suckle on either mine or the mrs hands, googled this and seems normal (we got her at 9 weeks) but is this something we should try and stop?

Thanks for all the help and here is another few photo's, her personality is amazing, although she seems to act more like a dog..

That's a huge amount at once for a kitten. I'd try and feed less but more regularly if possible.
Also if possible monitor their weight, if its increasing too fast it may just be that they're little fatties and are trying to eat more than they should.

9weeks is way too young for a kitten to leave its mother. I know a lot of people get their kittens around this age but both the mother and kitten will be affected if they part before 12'ish weeks. That's why she's suckling on you. It's fine, just make sure to give them lots of attention.

Science plan is a con, vets always try and throw it at you if you have any kind of problem. I wrote a list of good foods above, there's also natural instinct which is a raw diet and much much better than commercial cat food.
Blood in the stool is NOT normal, it could indicate normal stress or it could be a parasite which can't be detected without a faecal test (Giardia or TF are the most likely).

Apart from that a wet and dry diet is fine, don't listen to vets when they said they should only be on dry till 6ish months.

Kittens have left their mothers at 8 weeks for years with no issues. 10-12 might be better, but 8 isn't an issue.

You mean the same way that puppies have been pulled from their mother for years and sold in pet stores in the UK? Basically battery farming them.

If the kitten is removed before 10weeks it will cause the mother and kitten unneeded stress and they will call for each other.

Just because its been done for years does not make it correct. There are not that many registered pedigree breeders left of common breeds and therefore the practice is iffy at best. Most don't care, they just want your money.

It's not huge at all, BSHs are very cobby, and 4kgs is fine for his age, even though most moggies would be fully grown at that weight.

His dad and mum are both huge, he is likely to be a healthy 7kg when fully grown. He's not fat at all, just very stocky, and any less food he hassles, any more and he wastes some, so it's clearly the correct amount. At 7 months he no longer needs the 5-6 feeds a day, as his stomach is big enough to work with 3 meals now. When he is fully grown he will move to just two meals.
